5 yearsI rang the number back and the guy said he was from some energy firm, I think it was called SSCE or something similar. Anyway, he didn’t really explain things clearly to me.5 yearsGot a call from someone trying to get me to change my phone plan to a "better" one. They already had loads of my info like my birthday, address and all. Then they asked for my sort code and account number to make the switch. I told them I wasn’t comfortable and he got pushy, saying stuff like "what’s the issue? What can I do with this info anyway?" I told him to stop calling and hung up. Something about it didn't feel right at all.5 yearsSo I got a call from someone claiming to be from UK Energy asking for my energy tariff details. It sounded a bit off so I’m not really sure what it was about. I think I’m just going to ignore calls like that in future...UK Energy5 yearsYeah, others have said it too. I got a call from London and also from that 01618260527 number in Manchester. I never gave out my bank info, not gonna trust them at all.ManchesterLondon5 yearsI got a call from someone claiming to be with an energy firm but they had the wrong house number for me. It sounded a bit dodgy to me. When I asked who exactly I was speaking to, she just hung up on me.5 yearsI got a call the other day that had something to do with my electricity provider. To be honest, I didn’t fully catch what the bloke was getting at because he barely let me get a word in. He clearly had my name, address and knew which energy company I was with. He was going on about how the company supplying my power was different from the one sending the bills - something about switching me over or changing this or that, but I was totally confused because he said the supplier couldn’t be changed and the billing firm wasn’t altering either? I had no clue what was meant to actually be changing. The whole thing felt strange, maybe because he came across as a bit too pushy or maybe because I just couldn’t follow what he was on about. In the end, I trusted my instincts and hung up the phone. It might’ve been a legit call, but it’s always safer to trust your gut, especially since it’s easier to clear up a misunderstanding than deal with being scammed. Seriously, scams these days are getting so sophisticated - especially since Covid started - so it never hurts to be cautious. Better to be safe than sorry.5 yearsSomebody rang me up saying there'd been some activity on my debit card abroad, like, 15 minutes ago. They told me to press one if it wasn’t me. Bit dodgy if you ask me.5 yearsSome bloke rang me claiming to be from British Gas and even knew my full name! Since we aren't customers with them, I told him to stop calling and just ended the call.British GasSubmit Your Own Report (020 3468 4647)
