Last week I got a call from my oncologist, so when this number popped up I couldn’t answer fast enough. I checked it on here and just left a voicemail saying I’d wait for their call later today. Honestly, I’m not sure if it’s legit or just another one of those spam or scam calls I’ve been getting loads of lately.

Problem is, I wasn’t even home any of those times! I was actually at Queen Square on the 26th for my appointment with the neurosurgeon. Maybe it’s those survey calls folks have talked about. Saturday, around 3.30pm, 25.02.2023. The phone kept ringing till I finally answered, then just silence on the other end. So I couldn’t figure out what that was about. Sounds like it’s legit, just them trying to gather opinions after my appointment. I just ended the call. Just got a call from 020 3463 3968, some automated voice claiming HMRC’s accusing me of fraud. I knew it was dodgy since HMRC don’t ring you up like that. Ended the call immediately and blocked the number. Watch out, it’s a scam.

When I pick up and the answerphone starts, the call just ends - so nothing left on the machine. I rang back and got an automated message saying something like "This was a call from the NHS. You don't need to take any action, someone will get in touch with you." No other details though. Continuous occurrences of silent calls are illegal and need to be addressed by Ofcom. If these calls are indeed related to an NHS survey, it is shameful and those responsible for managing the NHS should be held accountable and dismissed for causing distress to vulnerable patients.
