I got a call from someone claiming to be “Microsoft support,” the bloke had this Indian accent but gave a very ordinary name like “James Brown.” He tried to sound legit by mentioning this code that apparently every Windows computer has, something called the "clsid code" which finishes with 00co4fd7062. Once he got me to believe him, he asked me to enter commands on my computer so he could take over it. After that, he could use my PC to send spam or even install keyloggers to steal passwords for my bank and email accounts. Proper dodgy, so watch out for that trick.

I received a call from an Indian call centre regarding my windows. They seemed rather clueless, acknowledging they had eight in total (all Windows 8). They mentioned there was an issue that required some maintenance - apparently the hinges were playing up and needed a good clean. Regrettably, I struggled to decipher their shouts, which sounded rather aggressive and left an unpleasant taste in my mouth.

She rambled on about my home address and mentioned my name several times, which felt a bit off to me. Then she bombarded me with questions about my broadband provider, telephone service, electricity supplier, and even asked if I was interested in some insurance offers. What put me on edge was her persistent requests for personal details like my name. Now the number doesn’t seem to exist anymore, and I can’t shake the worry that my information could be misused for some dodgy scam out there. I'll definitely be keeping a keen eye on my mailbox and finances moving forward!

Blimey, those repeated calls at 8:30 three times and 11:30 four times got rather tiresome, didn't they? In the end, I couldn't resist picking up when a rather foreign-sounding chap claimed my computer was in peril. So, I thought I'd humour them for a bit-just pretended to be tapping away and entering passwords. In reality, I had my phone on loudspeaker while I carried on with my tea and caught up on the evening news. After about 40 minutes, I casually mentioned that I’m in forensic fraud, and ludicrously, the system wouldn’t recognise my legitimate passwords. They must've realised I was onto them and hung up straight away! Not a peep from them since. Haha!

I've had the misfortune of getting two calls from this number in just a couple of days. Both times, I made it clear that I didn't possess a computer or a laptop. The first caller, a woman, was quite polite and quickly hung up after my statement. However, the second guy - he was a bit of a nuisance, to say the least. He was an Indian chap who insisted that I must have a computer, despite my reiterating that I didn't. I received a pair of phone calls from this number, one at half past eight in the morning and the other at eleven thirty on the 25th of June, 2014. An Indian-accented woman was on the line both times, insisting that she was from Microsoft technical support and that my Windows computer was infected with a virus. For the last four years, I've been bombarded with such calls, fully aware that it’s a scam, which I read somewhere in the Telegraph is supposedly linked to operations out of Calcutta, India. Most of the time, I just tell them they're chatting nonsense and hang up, but now and then, I like to keep them talking until they get fed up and end the conversation themselves.

The chap on the other end introduced himself as Daniel and, upon further questioning, proclaimed he was from the Router Department down in London, supposedly about my internet issues. Oh, utterly relentless! Had a call today from someone claiming there were issues with my computer, asking if I could turn it on and follow their instructions. I decided to humour them for a bit-mostly for my own amusement-until my patience wore thin. I then flat-out said I wasn’t at a computer and was fully aware this was a ruse. To be fair to the caller, she seemed completely flabbergasted at the notion it could be a scam… but honestly, who do they think they’re kidding? Perhaps they might manage to deceive someone a bit more gullible, but that thick accent and her unwillingness to share any personal details should definitely raise some red flags. One would hope, anyway!

I got a call from these people inquiring about who owned the computer at my address. Naturally, I asked why they were interested and who they were. The lady on the other end mentioned something about Windows on the computer being expired. I thought to myself, “That’s lovely, but what’s that got to do with you?” Honestly, my computer has had a proper upgrade, so I simply used my call blocker to send them packing! 😄 Next time they try calling, it’ll be nice and easy to cut them off.
