Got a call from someone with a US accent claiming to be Officer Reed from HMRC. Said I was facing arrest and had to reply straight away. It was a recorded message, sounded dodgy as hell. Ended up just blocking the number and hanging up. If you get this, don’t answer or believe it - totally a scam. Stay safe, people!

Got a voicemail from a woman with an American accent, saying I must ring back right away about my income tax. Pretty clear it’s a scam but still annoying and could really catch some people out who don’t see through it. I’m going to follow your suggestion and report it to HMRC at their phishing email too.

Got a call from 020 3457 8437 earlier today, didn’t pick up, but they left a voicemail. It was a lady speaking with a strong American accent saying I’d be arrested if I didn’t call back because of some supposed debt to HMRC. Total dodgy scam, sounded more like she was chatting to someone stateside, not here in the UK.

dodgy scam alert! got a call from someone claiming to be carol reid from hmrc, but with this weird american robot voice - yeah right. called back but kept my number private, left a not-so-nice message for 'carol'. won’t say what exactly, but it was cheeky. lol.

got a call on my phone earlier today but didn’t pick up. before, i’d got this ridiculous voicemail from someone saying they were from hrme, but it was from another number. will wait to see if they leave something again. yeah, they had an american accent, this time it was ‘officer carol read’, last time it was ‘officer carol jones’. bit dodgy if you ask me, best not to answer calls from numbers you don’t know!

Got a call from 02034578437 earlier but didn’t answer. I tried ringing back to see who it was, and the bloke on the other end, speaking with an Indian accent, said he was Officer Shaun Hardy from HMRC. He asked for my name and when I gave it, he started repeating his name and oddly asked how I was doing. That’s when I figured it was dodgy and ended the call. Definitely avoid answering or calling that number back. BLOCK IT!

Got a call from some bloke claiming I owed £3500 in taxes and that there were four cases against me, saying I’d be heading to court soon. He kept going on about freezing my bank accounts and taking my house and car. I told him straight up I’m on benefits and don’t have a house or car at all. He sounded unsure for a bit and then said he’d check my account and ring me back. Honestly, don’t pick up if this number pops up!

I’ve called this bloke about 4 times just mucking about, making him think he's caught me like a fish on a line. Even roped my sister in to have a go. Told him he’s on the wrong path scamming poor folks and that he’d be better off putting that effort into an honest job. First thing, he tries to scare you saying he’s some sheriff looking into your case, then hits you with a debt of 4267 quid. Once he susses out you’re winding him up, he gets pretty rude! If you’ve got a few minutes spare, give him a dose of his own medicine. It’s well satisfying!
