He inquired about the last time I renewed my Norton subscription and stated that I was on a monthly payment arrangement. When I challenged his assertion, he abruptly ended the call. I had a similar experience: a man called and started by stating my full name, then asked me to verify it. As soon as I said yes, he immediately hung up. This whole business of matching numbers to names and scoping out details like this is definitely against a stack of privacy regulations here. I received a call from someone purporting to be from Norton Security, which I happen to have installed on my laptop. On 22nd June, someone rang claiming to be from BT Broadband. They asked for my husband by his first name and mentioned they got his details from his email address. The caller started off asking if he's been getting loads of spam emails recently. We just left the call going for around ten minutes before finally ending it. Seemed like they were trying to get into the computer or something. The guy had an Asian accent and said his name was John.
