Today, I got a call from this number 020 3455 9268. I always make sure anyone ringing me says who they are and why before I pick up. This caller didn’t leave any message or say anything when I answered, so I just didn’t bother getting back to them. I’ve added the number to my blocked list now!

For the past few weeks, I've been getting loads of calls on my phone from a number claiming to be Great Ormond Street Hospital, saying they’re trying to raise funds. But I don’t buy it - I live up in Scotland and have never had any dealings with that place, so how would they have my number? Feels dodgy, like some sort of scam just trying to take my money. My phone even flags it as a possible scam and automatically blocks their calls now, plus I’ve manually blocked the number just to be safe.

Got a call today, 14/12/23, about insuring my appliances. The guy on the phone had an Asian accent. I explained that I just bought the appliances and already have manufacturer warranty, but he kept pushing the insurance talk. I told him I knew he was up to something, and all he did was chuckle. The person on the phone claims to be from your insurance provider, saying they can give you a discount for being a loyal customer and want to set up a new policy. But they say you’ve gotta cancel your direct debit first before the new one kicks in - that’s a dead giveaway it’s dodgy. Blocked the number straight away.

Definitely one of those appliance insurance scams. I asked a couple of simple questions and the caller couldn’t answer properly. When I pushed for the company name, they gave me one, but when I looked it up on Companies House, it turned out to be a company that’s been dissolved.

Got a call this morning about renewing my home appliance insurance, but mine isn’t due yet. She asked what brands my appliances are, but then said she didn’t know, which sounded fishy. I told her it’d be on the policy if this was legit, and then she just hung up. Pretty clear that wasn’t a genuine call.

Got a call from someone with an English accent, said they were from the warranty team. Instantly felt off 🚩 Started talking about a discount because I’m such a loyal customer 🚩 They asked for info from my cheque book 🚩🚩🚩 Told him to find a proper job instead of trying to con people, and he said I must be dumb cuz he couldn’t do anything bad with that info. He kept pushing really hard, so I just kept shouting “thief, thief” and then he hung up. Total SCAMMERS!

I got a call from a woman with an Indian accent from 020 3455 0268 telling me my warranty was about to expire (which it definitely isn’t!). Weirdly, my camera turned on and I got freaked she might be watching me, so I just ended the call and switched my phone off. Then I rang EE to tell them what happened and they told me to make a report.
