Received a phone call today from someone who purported to be representing a client. Typical call centre voice with that familiar South Asian twang. They wouldn't disclose their name or the name of this 'client' they were supposedly representing, yet had the audacity to ask for my personal information. I informed them, quite plainly, that I wouldn't be sharing anything unless they first revealed who they were and who this client was. After I hung up, the agent had the nerve to say that if I were to hear from the client, I should expect another call. Absolute nonsense! It’s clearly a scam. Best to just ignore any further attempts.

For months now I’ve been getting calls on my landline with messages from some debt collectors. They keep asking for someone I’ve never heard of. Today I actually picked up and there was an automated voice asking for that person. When I said they weren’t there, it asked if they were just not available or if I lived at that address. Right after I replied, the call was cut off. Honestly, these lot are the worst, taking advantage of people who might be struggling.

What more can I do? 1. Any letters I receive are promptly chucked in the trash or sent back; 2. I make it a point to block their number every time they switch it up; 3. I consistently mark their emails as junk. They can continue their relentless pursuit for another four years for all I care; by then, it’ll be beyond the legal limit anyway!

Got a text supposedly from Jefferson Capital with a ref number and an email (my.carsuk.org), but they spelled my name wrong. Then got a call today saying I owe money to one of their clients. They wouldn’t say which client unless I gave them my home address, so I said no. The guy, sounded Indian, got quite threatening, saying I'd get a letter and they'd visit if I didn’t get in touch. They were pretty pushy, so I matched their tone. I'd bet older or more vulnerable people would get really scared by that. Seems like a scam to me.
