I’m absolutely appalled! I contributed to the Syria fund via UNICEF, and I can honestly say I won’t be doing that again! It’s just so disheartening; you think you’re being charitable and then you find yourself constantly pressured for further donations. Not impressed at all!

I've contributed by sending a text to the fund for Syria, and now I've received my fifth or sixth call from this number at a rather inconvenient 8:35 PM on a Friday evening. Out of curiosity, I did a bit of digging online and was quite disheartened to discover that my number has been flagged due to my donation. This whole experience has now made me hesitant about texting donations in the future, which is quite unfortunate because it was such a straightforward process.

I made a charitable contribution via text, but I'll think twice before doing that again. Ever since, I've been bombarded with an absurd number of phone calls. It feels like harassment at this point! If it carries on, I'll certainly bring this to the charity's attention, as it's utterly intolerable. I wasn't under the impression I subscribed to anything; it was just a singular donation. They can count me out for any future support!

I've been getting calls from UNICEF as well, and I must say it’s rather irritating. When I inquired with the chap on the phone, "Am I going to be inundated with calls?", he assured me it would only be a single donation. Yet, astonishingly enough, just moments after I made that donation, I got a message saying they’d be reaching out soon. It certainly left a bad taste in my mouth! Had I not been hurrying back to work, I would have definitely turned back to challenge his rather misleading words!

After making a text donation to UNICEF yesterday, I received a rather unexpected call from the number 020 3435 5718. I took a moment to check the text confirmation they sent, which included a link to www.unicef.org.uk/smssyria. Upon visiting the site, I discovered the following information: "We’re eager to share more about our initiatives for children, but if you’d prefer not to receive any further communication from us, simply text NOCALL to 70007. Please allow us up to one working day to remove your number from our call list, so your patience is appreciated if you happen to get a call in that time."

Without a doubt, this has to be UNICEF. I've been inundated with as many as three calls daily, driving me to reach out to UNICEF myself. They subsequently sent me an apologetic message regarding their "inconvenient" calls. As Ricky Tomlinson might put it, "inconvenient, my backside." Their persistence is nothing short of intrusive. If you find yourself in the same predicament, ring them at 0844 801 2414 or drop an email to [email protected] and insist that they take your number off their contact list.

One has to ponder if charities truly grasp how unappealing their persistence can be. Despite informing them that I'm unreachable during my working hours, they just don't seem to take the hint!

I registered with the Telephone Preference Service, and it's been remarkably effective in cutting down on nuisance calls-barring this one pesky number. I've also decided to halt any donations through my mobile.

It’s like they’ve decided that pestering me three times a day is their new hobby, all in the name of squeezing more cash out of me. It’s quite infuriating, really!
