Initially, I believed they were calling from Vodafone and ended up giving them my postcode as the call went on, but I didn’t share any other details. When I questioned them more, they claimed they worked for my phone company and wanted to help me find a better mobile deal. How did you receive your phone? They called me last night and informed me that my phone application was approved. However, feeling suspicious, I proceeded with caution and provided my bank details. I had a rather unsettling encounter with a rather hostile male caller who was of Asian descent. He brought up Black Friday and when I politely requested that he refrain from contacting my mobile, he seemed baffled and asked if I could comprehend English. I promptly hung up, but to my annoyance, he called right back. After a few rounds of this, I passed the phone to my husband. They insisted on speaking to me directly and got rather irate when asked what this was regarding. My husband informed them that it was really none of his business, and pointed out that they should be aware of TPS and ICO regulations, explaining that cold calling firms are subject to hefty fines. Their insistence for a conversation with me only escalated, becoming increasingly aggressive in tone. To make matters worse, they had our home address and even threatened to pay us a visit, instructing us to remain where we were! We've since blocked the number and reported the incident to the ICO.

My husband mentioned the Telephone Preference Service (TPS), Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), and the consequences cold-calling companies face for violating regulations. Despite this, the caller persisted in demanding to talk to me. Their aggressiveness escalated when they mentioned having our home address and threatened to visit us. Worried by this escalation, I blocked their number and reported the incident to the ICO.

So they called and asked, “Hello is this [my name]?” I replied with “Who’s this?” and they said, “I’m Allah from Three network.” I then told them, “Could you please delete my name from your records?” They agreed and said “Alright, will do,” then just cut the call straight away.

Got a call around 6:15pm from someone saying they were with Three mobile, called himself John Smith, speaking in a thick Ghanian accent. He was pushing a SIM-only plan with unlimited calls, texts, and data for £10 per month. I asked if he could send me the details by post or email instead. He then said he’d only do the deal if I gave him my bank details right then on the phone. Obviously I said no, I never hand out my bank info over the phone! They ringed me like 13 times in 6 hours. I picked up one call and just listened to them reading a script, saying they were from Three. Offered me a Samsung Galaxy S10 with no upfront cost, 60% discount and first month free. They even knew my name, postcode, sort code and account number. Kept pushing me to give my card number and the security code on the back. I kept him talking for about 35 minutes, then told him I didn't have my card and wasn’t interested. He sounded proper down after that. Proper harassment, that was.

Got a call from some bloke saying he was from 3, telling me I’d been picked for a half-price deal on a contract with no initial fees. He had all my info, like my address and stuff, but seemed unaware I was already a 3 customer. When I told him I was under contract with them, he said that’s exactly why he was ringing me. He claimed he’d sort out the upgrade charges but needed all my details since he couldn’t access my account. I thought that sounded dodgy so I refused to share anything.

Got a call earlier today from what sounded like some Asian scammers using a London landline number. They tried to get my bank details and personal info. Reported the incident to 'Action Fraud'. Also dropped an email to my MP asking about measures to stop overseas scammers from using UK landlines to make untraceable calls and trick people. Why aren’t there more warnings out there? Will wait and see what comes of it, though with everything else going on, not feeling very hopeful ;-(
