This is surely Marie Curie, not some scam or fake call. I haven’t put them on my block list, just don’t pick up. I give to Marie Curie every month since they cared for my mum so well before she passed away. Most times, the calls are about whether I can increase my donation. The people ringing are always very kind, but it’s hard for me to chat about my mum and what happened, so that’s why I don’t answer. I guess they’re just trying hard to raise money for the great work they carry out.

Got a call from someone named Harry, said he was fundraising for Marie Curie on commission. He was asking for more donations because of the rising living costs. I told him straight I’m on a fixed pension like many others and honestly can’t afford to give anything extra. He seemed to understand and ended the call quickly. I get that charities need support and calls from genuine donors seem okay to me. If you want to donate, great, if not just be honest about it and they usually move on without trouble.

On 10th December 2019, I got a call that rang once and then cut off. Curiously, I picked up when they rang back, only to be greeted by a rather generic message instructing me to hang tight while they connected me. Something about it didn’t sit right, so I ended the call and did a bit of sleuthing online. One site suggested it was linked to the British Legion, but when I reached out to them, they completely denied any association with that number. In fact, they only asked for my postcode, and wouldn't you know it, they didn't have it on file either. Quite the mystery! The number was 02034243602, if anyone's interested.
