The cleverest approach to tackle these swindlers is to turn the tables and give them a bit of their own medicine. Keep up the act, seem interested, be pleasant, and waste their precious time. When they inevitably ask for your credit card details (and they certainly will), simply tell them to take a hike and that you were never really interested (or say something that tickles your fancy).
