Today, I got a rather suspicious email claiming to be from ‘eBay’, stating that my Acer laptop was on its way, complete with a phone number to ring if I hadn't placed an order. The thing is, I don’t even use eBay! Sounds like classic spam to me.

I had a similar experience recently, and it certainly came through as a blatant email scam-no hyperlinks and plenty of mistakes in the message itself. It appears they’ve been fishing for personal data. My message stated:

"Cheers for your recent purchase on eBay! Your order is officially confirmed. Kindly note the PayID as a reference for your own records. Should you not have made this order, please ring us at +44-20-3398-5950 to alert our fraud protection team."
