Got a call from someone saying they were with HMRC looking into a tax fraud case. They kept telling me to hit 1 to talk to an officer, threatening arrest if I didn’t. Obviously, it’s a complete con. Make sure you block and report these scammers!

if you get a ring from someone saying they’re from hmrc about a problem with your tax refund or some tax you owe, be careful. sometimes they’ll leave a voicemail asking you to ring them back. just don’t fall for it. hmrc doesn’t get in touch like that and definitely won’t ask for your bank details or personal info over the phone.

Got a call from an automated woman saying I'd got tax fraud claims under my name. She said if I didn't hit 1, I'd be arrested! Definitely one of those HMRC scam calls.

Got a call from a guy who sounded like he might be Indian, said his name was Roger Williams and claimed he was from HMRC. He told me I had to decide right then and there whether to settle an HMRC claim out of court or face court action. I told him just to send me the paperwork or something in writing instead of making decisions over the phone.
