02033895932 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 02033895932 👆 is reported as a persistent and distressing scam targeting mainly elderly and vulnerable individuals, falsely claiming to be from HMRC or Inland Revenue and alleging legal action or lawsuits, urging recipients to press a number to speak to a caseworker. These automated calls use recorded messages with unfamiliar voices, do not address recipients by name, and aim to elicit personal information or payments. Genuine HMRC correspondence is always sent in writing, never via unsolicited phone calls. Recipients are strongly advised not to engage, press any options, or provide personal details. This scam has caused significant worry, particularly among older adults, and should be reported to Action Fraud and local authorities to help protect others.

An automated call came through to my 90-year-old mum claiming there was a court case against her and she needed to ring back to avoid big trouble. Throughout the call, they never actually said her name, just kept saying ‘this call is for you’. The voice, which sounded like a woman, mentioned some supposed HMRC case worker by name. Mum was quite shaken up, but thankfully she rang me before doing anything. Make sure your elderly or vulnerable friends and neighbours are warned about these scam calls, they’re really nasty.

This marks the third occasion we've received a call from this number. I've chosen not to pick up, as I suspect it's a con.

Just got a warning from the local coppers saying this number is a fraud, pretending to be HMRC. Better not pick up if they call!

My mum who's 82 got a call from this number but she missed it, then they left a message with a strange voice claiming to be HMRC. She couldn't make out what they were saying properly and got worried she might owe money. So, she tried ringing back and at first it sounded like someone answered saying HMRC, but the moment she began talking, the line just went dead. It's quite dodgy and I'm definitely going to report it.

The lady speaking on the voicemail sounds really weird, kind of like those automated messages you hear on phone answering machines.

Got a voicemail earlier today from a woman saying she's from HMRC and that I'm being sued or something. I didn’t hit any buttons. A couple weeks back I got a similar call but it was a guy’s voice and came from 01618507454. Definitely sounds dodgy to me.

I’m with HMRC in Manchester and just want to say this number’s a total SCAM. We never call folks out of the blue like this. Usually, if there’s any issue, we send a letter first, never just ring up like that. So please don’t press 1 or anything, just block it and let your mates and family know too.

I got a call for my mum from someone claiming to be from the "inland revenue" - which, as far as I know, hasn’t been used for ages. They threatened court action, which upset her a lot. She hung up quickly but has been getting loads of similar scam calls all day every day since then. It’s really worrying for her.

I got a call from 02033895932 claiming to be HMRC, with an automated voice saying I’m involved in some kind of pending lawsuit and to press 1 to talk to my case officer. I just hung up straight away. It did stress me out a bit since I run a small business and always fret over whether I’ve got my taxes right, even though my accountant handles all that stuff. Honestly, these scammers need to be put to a stop.

Honestly, this seems like one of the biggest scams out there. Stay well clear. I wonder why the police aren’t stepping in to put a stop to this? I’m worried about all the older folks who must be really frightened by these calls.

Got a dodgy phone call claiming to be from HMRC, saying there’s a legal case against me. Absolutely ignore if they ask you to press 1. Instead, make sure you report it to Action Fraud by calling 0300 123 2040 or via their website at [#]actionfraud.police.[###]. That’s the right spot to flag these scams.

Honestly, they've been getting away with this stuff for too long now, someone needs to put an end to it.

My mum, who’s 89 and just lost someone close recently, was absolutely terrified by this. Surely there must be some way to put a stop to this ridiculous behaviour. It took ages to get her calm again and explain it wasn’t aimed at her personally. At least it happened in the daytime, and I happened to come home right after, so I could be there for her.

I got a call from someone pretending to be from HMRC saying they were taking legal action against me. They didn’t even ask for my name or confirm who I was, which made it obvious it was a scam. This sort of cold call really should be illegal and reported to the police.

Total con! Never hit 1 when you get these calls. The tax office doesn’t send messages like that about legal action. The cops really ought to crack down on these dodgy callers.

Honestly, when I got that supposed HMRC call, I couldn’t stop chuckling - it was that obvious it was a scam. I’m 84 and even I saw right through it straight away and blocked the number quick as a flash. I’d say you should just do the same, no point wasting time!

Has anyone else gone ahead and pressed 1? My mum did by mistake and now we’re both worried she might get charged some expensive premium fee. After she pressed it, someone picked up and asked for her National Insurance number, which was a big red flag. She quickly ended the call after that.

Got a call from someone saying they were with HMRC and that they were going to file a lawsuit against me. I just ignored it and let the voicemail pick up. Surely this is a scam since HMRC normally only communicate via letters, not phone calls or emails.

Got a recorded message saying it was Customs and Excise and they were going to take action against me, telling me to press 1 to talk to my case officer. I hung up straight away and rang Customs and Excise myself to check things out. They said they hadn’t heard anything about it and would’ve sent a letter if there was an issue. They reckon it’s likely a scam trying to trick people.
