Absolute rogues pretending there’s problems with houses I own! I’ve got a few rentals myself, plus my own place, and this bloke reckoned my “tenants” had building issues? I just received a rather unsettling call from this number. The caller claimed to have my home address and went on about how numerous people have been duped by the council during the pandemic, insisting he could assist with fixing up my property. When I pointed out that the address he mentioned wasn’t associated with me, he suddenly switched tactics, asking if I grasped the significance of his call and whether I might know anyone-friends or family-who would be interested in his supposed help. Quite the cheeky fellow, I'd say!

This guy tried to pitch me some advertising space, saying it was to help kids with cancer. If he’s just making it up, that’s seriously dodgy and I hate that kind of trick. But if it’s legit, well, fair play to him, he’s really good at getting people on board.

I asked them to send me a data subject access request form under UK data protection laws, so I could see what details they held and find out who they were working for. But they wouldn’t provide that or tell me their company name. Then, when I asked to speak to a manager, they just ended the call.

An Indian woman on the line claimed that the call was coming from London. However, the extended silence before anyone picked up was a massive red flag for me. I've since decided to block them.
