I had a rather peculiar phone call claiming to be from Carphone Warehouse, requesting that I return the call to this number. They were attempting to peddle a new mobile contract. After a few probing questions from me, it became quite apparent that this was a fraudulent attempt, and they abruptly terminated the call. At first, I was speaking with a woman who had a distinctly Indian accent, but she soon handed me over to a rather aggressive-sounding gentleman with the same accent. When I posed some challenging queries, he raised his voice at me. He insisted on obtaining my banking information and absurdly claimed that the police were listening in, which prevented him from scamming me. With two decades of experience as a police officer, I recognised this as utter nonsense. I informed him of my background, and the call ended shortly thereafter. Beware of these con artists; don't fall victim to their tricks!
