I finally used BT's CALL-BARRING to block unknown numbers and that stopped these annoying calls. If you do answer, ask for Cheryl - she’s the one who’ll remove you from their calling list, and then the calls will stop. Finally some quiet!!! Big thanks to Philip at BT for the help.
