I got a couple of calls from this number, picked up the second one and the guy said his name was David. Honestly, he didn’t sound like a David at all. He claimed he was ringing from O2 and told me they’d be blocking my number because I was supposedly still on a Virgin SIM. I’d switched it ages ago when O2 merged with Virgin Mobile, so it seemed like a load of rubbish to me.

Got a couple of calls this morning, one at 10:53 and another at 10:55. The person claimed to be from 3 and asked if I was experiencing problems with my phone, saying they'd connect me to the tech dept. Felt like a total scam so I just ended the call. Then, they rang back twice more from different numbers: 02032789928 and a Manchester number 0161 302 8988, both around 10:56. I picked up the Manchester one, and it was the same bloke from before. He said we got disconnected and that he wanted to link me to tech support. I wasn’t having any of it and cut them off again.

Honestly, ringing back numbers you don’t recognise is a proper daft move. Only the seriously clueless or overly trusting would bother. There’s loads of reasons not to, like those recurring wangiri scams, which still catch out plenty of gullible Brits who make the mistake of calling back. The new trick involving 02 sim card swaps is popping up everywhere. Best thing is to report those numbers to 7726. You can google 7726 for more details on how to keep safe from these.
