I got a call from 020 333 321 953 the other day, some guy with an Indian accent speaking from what sounded like a chaotic call centre. He was asking about a recent accident I’d been involved in, saying my info had come from my insurance provider. Problem is, my landline is unlisted and when I asked him for the name of his company to report them to the TPS, he just cut me off.

I recently received a rather cheeky call from this number regarding a car crash I supposedly had. Of course, I decided to have a bit of fun with the chap on the line, who had quite a strong Indian accent. I spun a yarn about how there were twelve of us crammed into a vehicle, and I was perched on the roof! After a minute or so of this bizarre exchange, it suddenly clicked for him, and he unleashed a delightful "motherf**ker" at me. I quickly returned the compliment, and then he promptly ended the call. What a laugh!

I work in IT at a call centre and because it’s a bank holiday, I’m the only one here. Suddenly, all three phones on the floor started ringing at once. I answered one, caught a voice for a couple of seconds, then the line just cut off. It felt really suspicious, especially since our call centre numbers aren't listed anywhere public like phone books.

I asked my 14-year-old if she'd been involved in some sort of accident, but she said no. Then the guy started saying she sounded rubbish and kept pressing for her name. My younger daughter came over and asked me to handle it, so I took the phone. The moment I said "This is ... speaking, how can I help?" he just dropped the call. If I ever track him down, he’s gonna get a dose of his own medicine! Total scammer and creep.

Got a call from someone named Imran saying he was from the Accident Helpline. Really nice bloke, at first he was keen to get all the details about my accident. But once I mentioned it involved a bus packed with people and that I expected to be facing some serious jail time, he suddenly lost interest. Total waste of my time. And yes, we’re signed up with the TPS. Doesn’t seem to bother some of these nasty calls one bit.

Got a call from this number on my work phone earlier. Like others mentioned, it’s definitely a scam. At first, some guy with a British accent kept repeating "hello?" but then out of nowhere, it switched to an Indian accent claiming to be from the 'national accident helpline'. Had one of those bothersome calls this evening. I share the same plight as many others-my number’s meant to be confidential. A chap once mentioned that these callers receive a “batch” of numbers to ring, spanning, for instance, from 3400 to 3500. It's a bit of a nuisance if your unlisted number happens to fall within that range! As for my response to these intrusions? I keep a personal alarm handy by the phone, and the moment I suspect it’s one of those nuisances, I simply yank the cord out and wedge it onto the mouthpiece of the handset. Typically, they scurry off pretty quickly after that! While caller blocking systems are an option, they often come at a price. My technique, however, brings a certain satisfaction!

For over a week, I kept receiving calls from a man with an Indian accent who wanted me to verify my name and address. He then asked me to go to my computer, which obviously seemed like a ploy to get remote access. I told him that if he really knew who I was, he should send me something in the post - of course, I’ve had nothing. I kept him on the line by asking loads of questions like who he was, what he needed, why he was ringing me and so on, just to waste his time. After a while, he gave up and hung up. The weird part was the call quality - it was really clear, none of the usual crackling you get with these dodgy cold calls.

Consequently, I rarely receive cold calls. However, since I started using PlusNet for my broadband and phone services, I’ve seen an alarming uptick in calls from various unfamiliar numbers-this is a significant shift for me. I can't help but think that PlusNet must have shared my number with a multitude of entities. Like many others, the callers seem intent on pressuring me into seeking compensation for a non-existent car accident, often staffed by individuals with such poor English it leaves one questioning if they’re even real. It’s all rather dubious, to say the least.

I’ve always been super careful about sharing my phone number, even signed up to the TPS ages ago to avoid cold calls. So normally, I never get any. But ever since I switched to PlusNet for broadband and phone, I’ve been getting a surprising number of random calls, which is a huge jump for me. I can only assume PlusNet must have leaked my number somewhere along the line. Like others have said, most of the calls are about suing for a car accident I wasn’t involved in, and the callers barely spoke English properly - sounded almost robotic. Definitely seems like a dodgy scam.

Funny thing is my mate doesn’t even drive and yet this bloke was asking if she’d got any payout as a passenger! These calls are driving me nuts. I have loads of numbers blocked on my mobile for junk calls, but now they’re targeting businesses. Surely there’s a way to block them, but since these calls seem to be coming from abroad, I reckon there’s no hope!
