So first this guy from India starts off with some nonsense about a car crash. A couple of days later, a South African woman calls up pushing some insurance claim. Then, after that, another Indian bloke rings me trying to sell dodgy insurance and only wanted my bank info. The amount of scammers ringing in the UK is ridiculous. Honestly, I’m fed up with getting these calls all the time.

Got a call from 020 3332 0884, sounded like one of those car crash scams. Be careful, could be dodgy.

After registering our business on Yell, we've been getting nothing but constant calls from these folks, it's been really annoying.

Yesterday at around 3:26pm, I got a phone call from a woman claiming she wanted to talk about a car accident I had last year. Since I actually was in an accident then, I figured it might be genuine and asked her for details. But she couldn’t tell me the date or any specifics, so I told her I’d only discuss things with my insurance provider. She insisted her company could help and that my insurer wouldn’t, which sounded dodgy. When I said I was going to hang up, she suddenly asked “why?” in a sort of pushy way. I ended the call and she rang me straight back. I’ve blocked the number now, definitely felt like some kind of scam or dodgy sales pitch.

They ring me loads but never bother to leave any message. I reckon it’s some sort of scam.

Got a call from some dodgy bloke talking rubbish about a car crash that never happened. Total waste of time.

I stopped picking up calls from numbers I don't recognise 'cause most are just scams. Lately, I've had alerts about car crashes I never had and charges of £900 on a credit card that’s not even mine. Plus, messages saying my Amazon Prime is about to expire, which I never signed up for. There’s loads of stuff like that, so I just let Hiya screen my calls now - they flag if it might be dodgy, and I just ignore the rest.

Absolute scam! They said they were from some insurance firm claiming I had an accident within the past 18 months, which is totally not true. I've never been in any crashes at all. Don't get caught out by this rubbish. Blocked the number straight away and deleted it!

They just stopped talking outta nowhere.

I got a call from a woman who had a South African accent, but it was really hard to catch what she was saying. She sounded like she was reading straight off a script about some "recent car accident". She mentioned a company, but spoke so fast I couldn’t make out the name. There was a lot of noise in the background, like a busy call centre with people doing the same thing. It was definitely a real person, not a robot, because when I asked her to repeat what she just said (since I didn’t get it), she sounded a bit annoyed. Pretty clear it was a scam. I'm based in West London by the way.

Got a call from someone saying I was in an accident and needed to sort out insurance stuff - turned out to be a scam.

Got a call asking if I recalled a crash I'd supposedly been in not long ago. I asked for more details about which incident and when it happened, but the person just hung up straight away.

Got a call today saying I had some payout waiting because of a crash I was apparently involved in. They called me Mr and used my old surname - spot on, not! I replied, "I’ve never been in one, please put me off your list." They insisted, "Are you sure? Maybe you bumped your head and forgot." "Nope, never had any accident. No one in my family either. Now please delete my number." You can guess, they hung up pretty sharpish - couldn't blame them, probably their first day on the job. They then tried to guess who else it might be in my house. I said, "Honestly, no one. Your company must have bought my contact off some dodgy database, and you poor folks are stuck calling people all day and taking flak for lousy wages." Then silence, followed by the dreaded click. Felt a bit sorry for whoever’s running that show, but most definitely a scam, no two ways about it.

Same here, got a call claiming to be from ‘auto assess’. No clue what company they’re actually with though. If anyone knows how I can figure it out, I’d really appreciate it - I want to send them a GDPR info request for sure...

I’m so fed up with these annoying calls. Today alone I got like four more besides this one. It’s hitting my work phone, the one I actually use for proper business stuff. Honestly, they should find a proper job and stop bothering people just doin real work.

Someone rang me saying they were from the legal team of a car company, talking about a crash I supposedly had a couple of years back. They kept insisting I was owed up to £5000 for a smash I'd never claimed for. Bit strange since I haven't been in an accident for over a decade. Then she just hung up on me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from a legal claims team. Told them I wasn’t interested right away. Then they insisted it was important and definitely not a scam. They started talking about some accident I supposedly had back in 2020. I told them there was no such thing, and then they just hung up on me! Weird stuff. 🤨

Got a call about some kind of accident insurance... I had a bit of time to kill, so I decided to mess around and waste their time right back, throwing nonsense at them like they were doing to me. When I finally told the person I was just wasting their time, they got pretty annoyed and had the nerve to say they get paid no matter what. Seriously, these scammy types are getting paid off this? Absolutely gross 🤮🤮🤮🤮
