So first this guy from India starts off with some nonsense about a car crash. A couple of days later, a South African woman calls up pushing some insurance claim. Then, after that, another Indian bloke rings me trying to sell dodgy insurance and only wanted my bank info. The amount of scammers ringing in the UK is ridiculous. Honestly, I’m fed up with getting these calls all the time.

Got a call from 020 3332 0884, sounded like one of those car crash scams. Be careful, could be dodgy.

Absolutely! I echo those sentiments entirely.

After setting up our new venture on Yell, we've been inundated with unwanted calls from these individuals who just won't leave us alone.

I received a call yesterday at precisely 15:26 from a woman who claimed she wanted to have a chat about a car accident I endured last year. Given that I did indeed have a mishap, I figured there might be some authenticity to her call, so I requested additional details. However, she was unable to provide the date or any relevant specifics regarding the incident. At that point, I made it clear that I couldn’t engage with her and that I preferred to speak solely with my insurance provider. She continued to press the point that my insurer wouldn’t be the right contact, claiming her company could help instead. I told her I was busy and began to leave the conversation, to which she reacted rather abruptly, exclaiming, "What, why?" I then hung up, only for her to ring me back immediately. I've since blocked that number; it’s clearly some sort of scam or a sales pitch.

They ring me loads but never bother to leave any message. I reckon it’s some sort of scam.

Got a call from some dodgy bloke talking rubbish about a car crash that never happened. Total waste of time.

The number called me but I didnt pick up and there wasnt any voicemail or message left, just a plain annoying call really.

I stopped picking up calls from numbers I don't recognise 'cause most are just scams. Lately, I've had alerts about car crashes I never had and charges of £900 on a credit card that’s not even mine. Plus, messages saying my Amazon Prime is about to expire, which I never signed up for. There’s loads of stuff like that, so I just let Hiya screen my calls now - they flag if it might be dodgy, and I just ignore the rest.

Absolute scam! They said they were from some insurance firm claiming I had an accident within the past 18 months, which is totally not true. I've never been in any crashes at all. Don't get caught out by this rubbish. Blocked the number straight away and deleted it!

They just stopped talking outta nowhere.

I got a call from a woman who had a South African accent, but it was really hard to catch what she was saying. She sounded like she was reading straight off a script about some "recent car accident". She mentioned a company, but spoke so fast I couldn’t make out the name. There was a lot of noise in the background, like a busy call centre with people doing the same thing. It was definitely a real person, not a robot, because when I asked her to repeat what she just said (since I didn’t get it), she sounded a bit annoyed. Pretty clear it was a scam. I'm based in West London by the way.

I received a call from someone probing about an incident I supposedly experienced not too long ago. When I sought clarification on which incident he meant and when it supposedly occurred, he abruptly hung up.

I received a call today claiming I was due a payment because of an accident I supposedly had. They called me Mr. (my maiden name), which was a nice touch, I suppose. I responded with, ~"I’ve not been in any accidents. Could you please take my number off your list?" *They replied, "It’s curious, you’re owed money. Could it be that you’ve taken a knock to the head and forgotten about it?" ~"Absolutely not, I’ve never been in a car accident. Please, just remove my number." *Then they suggested, "Maybe someone in your household?” ~“No, no one at all. No relatives, no friends. Just take my number off your database?” (I could tell they were inexperienced; they'd clearly never dealt with someone like me before). *They exclaimed, “That’s quite odd… How do you suppose we have your number then?” ~"Oh, I can tell you how that works. Your firm has likely bought my number from some dodgy list, and you lot are stuck ringing up people like me to pester them for no good reason, all while probably earning a pittance for it." *And then, silence... It's quite sad for those poor souls stuck on the phones, but it’s clearly a scam.

I can relate to that entirely! I received a call from someone claiming to be with 'auto assess' as well. Has anyone figured out the actual company behind it? I’d really like to submit a GDPR request to them-would be keen to know my rights!

I’m utterly fed up with these incessant calls! This makes the fifth one I've had today alone, not to mention it's on my business line, which I rely on for proper work. Honestly, these folks should find themselves a genuine job and contribute something meaningful to society instead of bothering people like this.

I received a rather peculiar call from someone purporting to be with the legal department of a car manufacturer. They mentioned that I was entitled to a payout of up to £5000 from a car accident that happened two years ago, where I was nudged by another vehicle. Quite amusing, really, as I haven't been in any mishaps for the last decade! Seemed a bit off, and before I could ask further questions, they abruptly hung up.

Received a call from someone claiming to be from a legal claims department. I made it clear that I wasn’t interested in engaging. They insisted it was a vital call, not merely spam. They mentioned an accident I supposedly had in 2020, but when I denied any knowledge of it, they abruptly terminated the call! Quite the cheek, if you ask me! 😒

I received a call about accident insurance, and since I had a bit of time to kill, I decided to have a bit of fun at their expense. I strung along the caller with all sorts of nonsense, mirroring the rubbish they were trying to sell me. After a while, I revealed that I was just toying with him, and he seemed quite miffed by it. To top it off, he had the audacity to mention that he earns his wage no matter what… Isn’t it just appalling that these scammers benefit from this sort of thing? Absolutely disgraceful! 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
