i got a call from someone claiming to be from carphone warehouse saying you can grab a bargain on the latest iphone but it turned out to be a total con. they talk about amazing deals and clearing your old contract but then end up charging £50 from your bank and making loads of unauthorised purchases on your card. just google "carphone warehouse scam" and you’ll see loads of people reporting the same thing!

They kept ringing me over and over but whenever I pick up, there's absolutely nobody on the line. So, I just blocked the number.

They claimed to be from HMRC and said there was a tax fraud thing on my file - I reckon they were trying to get a voice recording of me saying my name. As soon as I told them my name, the call just ended. Definitely a scam.

Said they were from Carphone Warehouse and “authorised by all the main networks” to provide deals. When I asked how they got my number, they claimed it was just randomly picked. Then they denied saying that. When I asked to talk to someone who could explain how my number ended up on their list, the caller hesitated a lot. After I mentioned the Data Protection Act and explained the legitimate ways companies can get numbers for marketing, they just quickly hung up (not shocking at all!).
