On the 6th of September 2016, at about 3:21pm, I got a voicemail from a man claiming to be with HMRC. He said they were taking some sort of action against me (couldn't quite catch the word). He asked me to press 1 to speak with a Case Officer. It didn’t feel right, so I checked the comments here and it totally confirmed it was a scam.

Got a call earlier today from an automated voice pretending to be from HM Revenue and Customs. They said there was some kind of legal action about to be taken against me. Thankfully, I’d heard about this type of scam before, but it was still pretty scary. Whatever you do, don’t press any buttons - just hang up immediately.

A message was recorded on the answering machine at 15:21 on September 6th, 2016. A man claimed to be from HMRC and mentioned something about filing a complaint against me. He instructed me to press 1 to speak with a Case Officer. I soon realized it was a scam after reading the comments on your website, which confirmed my suspicions. I would like to thank you for providing this information.

Today at teatime, an elderly family member got a call on their landline from this 02033229050 (London) number. The caller was rambling and making really unsettling threats about HMRC and some kind of legal action. It was quite intimidating. I’m definitely reporting this annoying number to all our phone and mobile networks, the local police here in London, and HMRC as well. Everyone else should probably do exactly that too!

Got a call saying HMRC was taking legal action against me, asking me to press 1. Definitely sounded like a scam but still gave me a scare! I checked this site to make sure it was fake. Thank goodness I was the one who heard the message and not my elderly mum, she’d have been terrified.

I recently got a phone call from this number, and there was an automated voice claiming to be from HMRC. They said they were planning to take legal action against me and asked me to press one to talk to my case advisor. I got quite anxious for a moment until I heard the end of the message, and then I just hung up the call. Even though I'm an "elderly" person, I'm not easily fooled. It's important to spread awareness about these scams because there are individuals who would be greatly distressed by such calls. Not everyone knows to check your website for information. Thank you.

Today, I received a phone call containing the same pre-recorded message as mentioned earlier. This caused worry for my wife, so I decided to return the call. Surprisingly, it was answered by someone claiming to be from HMRC (Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs). They inquired about the purpose of my call and mentioned that they had my phone number displayed on their system. Furthermore, they requested sensitive information like my insurance number and other personal details. However, when I refused to provide this information, they abruptly ended the call. Now, I keep receiving automated messages on my answering machine.

The caller informed me that, like others, I was facing an injunction imposed by HMRC, and although I initially felt shocked, I quickly suspected it to be a scam. However, there's a small part of me that can't shake off the feeling. Nevertheless, if it were authentic, I believe HMRC would send a written notification beforehand requesting payment for any outstanding amounts.

It is advisable not to respond to calls from unfamiliar numbers. If you were dealing with any issues regarding the HMRC, they would communicate with you through mail.

BT will soon introduce a service to block scams and unwanted calls in order to provide a safer experience for customers.

I got a voicemail on 1571 that was cut off halfway through. The part I caught mentioned 'HM Revenue & Customs taking legal action against you. Press 1 to speak to your case manager.' From what I know, HMRC normally sends you a letter with details and a reference number about any claim or issue. I've already put that number on my big blocklist - luckily my phone has that ability, but I imagine loads of people might freak out over these sorts of nasty calls. Honestly, these scammers really need to be found and put to an end!

Today, on 6th September 2016, I received two recorded phone calls which claimed to be from HMRC. The callers falsely stated that they intended to take me to court.
