Got a text just before midnight on Saturday that said something like: Dear Shirley, You have an invoice from Northwich ... To see it click here: http://tinyurl.com/ykna2ypw. Have a lovely day. Please do not respond. Had no clue who they were so I checked on this site. Didn’t tap the link and I’m going to block the number now. Cheers for the info!

Got a call from what said was HMRC on a Sunday, which threw me off. Looked up the number here and read a few comments, especially one from 4th Sept that caught my eye. Gonna follow that advice and see what comes of it. Lately, I've had loads of dodgy calls, mostly about my internet or computer being at risk, plus a couple pretending to be from Visa. If there’s a way to shut them down, I’m all for it. Plus, I don’t mind a bit of mischief myself!

Lately, these dodgy scammers have really stepped up their game. I saw some advice down in the comments on how to handle this nonsense, and I’m definitely going to follow it. I’ve already reported the whole thing to Action Fraud. Thinking about dropping a line to my MP too, just like folks were saying. That could get quite entertaining!

Received a call claiming to be from HMRC, was about to inform HMRC directly but after seeing some previous comments, decided instead to contact Action Fraud. I'm also thinking about writing to my MP to raise awareness about these scams, as recommended. Simply blocking the numbers doesn't seem enough to tackle these awful scammers. Something definitely needs to be done.

Got a call from this bloke, K#### Q####, some Pakistani guy from Leicester. He threatened to harm me unless I handed over my bank info. What a total bellend. Looked him up afterwards and turns out he's notorious around Leicester for fraud and claiming benefits for his ten kids. Proper tosser, honestly. Made me laugh though, what a muppet.

I got a call from this number and there was a message left on my voicemail. The start of it was really unclear, but I definitely heard something about an arrest warrant and the instruction to press 1 to talk to my case officer. Sounds like a classic scam with fake caller ID. It's worrying because someone who's more vulnerable could easily fall for this kind of nonsense.

This number has been popping up again and again for about two months now. Each time, there's this weird, scrambled recorded message saying there's a warrant out for us, but they never actually say who they are. They always want you to press 1 to talk to some "case officer." It’s getting pretty annoying and honestly, I’m sick of it, especially since sometimes the caller ID looks different.

These scams have been around forever and somehow still catch people out. Blocking one number is pointless because they just ring back from loads of other different ones. I saw a post recently that suggested a way to deal with them, but it only works if everyone actually takes action instead of just moaning here on this great site.

I just got another phone call claiming to be from the tax department, saying I owe cash and that I’ll be arrested if I don’t pay up right away. They told me to press 2 to sort it out. I received a missed call from this number, so I thought it wise to ring back. However, the background was rather chaotic, and the individual on the other end identified themselves as being from the 'Inland Revenue' and asked how they could assist. I couldn't shake the feeling that it was a scam, so I promptly ended the call. Shortly thereafter, I was hit with another call from the same number, but I decided not to answer this time. I've now hopped online to verify if this number is genuine. - caller: 02033225564
