my mum got a call from this number saying she owed £13,000 and if she didn't pay up she’d be sent to prison. she’s 87 and now really scared. I’m trying to get her phone company to block the caller. seriously, something has to be done about this number, it’s not right how old people can be so frightened by these calls. could end up really harming them.

Just got a really scrambled message about HMRC and now I’ve blocked the number. Too dodgy to bother with.

Got a robo call saying it was HMRC, kept telling me ‘we've been trying to contact you’ and claimed there was a legal case filed against me. It asked me to press 1 to speak to someone about it. I just ended the call straight away. This was the second call in just three days. Come on, HMRC on a Saturday? Definitely a scam!

A caller pretending to be from HMRC phoned my 88-year-old mum and claimed she had an arrest warrant out for her. You can imagine how shaken she was by the whole thing. Honestly, these sorts of scams are just awful!

Over the last week I've gotten loads of calls like this from different numbers all saying the same thing. I’ve sent everything to the HMRC phishing team at [email protected] - included their numbers, mine, when they rang and what they said. The one that called me was from 02033223994.

Today at about 12.46, I got a call from this number. They claimed to be from HMRE and said they’d been trying to get hold of me. I didn’t really want to hear any more, so I just ended the call and asked TalkTalk to block the number.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from hmrc - total scam. It was one of those automated messages saying they're taking legal action against me, and if I press one, I’d be connected to a “caseworker” to sort out payment. I’d already had a call on march 30th from a “charles robinson” in the so-called legal department at hmrc. He went on about how if i doubted he was legit, i could just hang up - but warned that if i did, my info would be sent to the courts and police would arrive in 30 minutes. Definitely just a scam trying to scare people.

Got a call from 02033223994 earlier, and as soon as I picked up, a voice claimed "we’ve been trying to reach you, this is her majesty's government" then started talking about taxes... I didn’t wait around to hear more and just hung up right away because it felt like a scam - caller said it was her majesty government.

Got a robocall saying I was about to be prosecuted for some alleged debt to HMRC, and that if I wanted to talk to my ‘case officer’ I should press 1 or something like that. When I finally got through to some bloke who couldn't really explain anything and started asking for personal info, I just ended the call. Really hope those scammers get caught soon, they’re so annoying. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/phishing-and-bogus-emails-hm-revenue-and-customs-examples/phishing-emails-and-bogus-contact-hm-revenue-and-customs-examples - call from: Fraudster

Scam alert: HMRC. Got a robo call saying HMRC is taking legal action against me, prompting me to press one to talk to a caseworker about payments. I’d already dealt with a similar scam on March 30th. This time, some “Charles Robinson” claimed to be from HMRC’s Legal Department. He said if I didn’t believe he was genuine, I could hang up - but warned if I did, my info would be sent to the courts and the police would be on my doorstep in 30 minutes. I kept asking for specifics about what tax period they were referring to and how much they said I owed, so I could check with my accountant. He snapped, “We don’t want to hear from any accountant.” I insisted it was important to clarify things with professionals if there was a mistake. He kept jabbering, but I talked over him. When I pressed for the amount owed, he asked for my date of birth and other personal details, which I refused to share over the phone. He tried interrupting but I kept speaking. Eventually he snapped, “Just shut up!” Me: “Did you just tell me to shut up? Not exactly the tone I’d expect from an HMRC officer.” Him: “I’m hanging up.” Oh, and the caller supposedly named Charles Robinson spoke with a thick Asian accent. Pretty fishy!

Received a call from this number today, a bloke named Charles Roberson saying there's a warrant out for my arrest. When I answered, he started with "how can I help you?" so I flipped it back with "you called me, so how can I help you?" He then dropped my name, address and postcode, and said if I ended the call, the police would show up about some income tax issue. I passed the phone to my husband, and the guy just seemed flustered, didn’t really know what to say next. My husband ended up hanging up on him.
