my mum got a call from this number saying she owed £13,000 and if she didn't pay up she’d be sent to prison. she’s 87 and now really scared. I’m trying to get her phone company to block the caller. seriously, something has to be done about this number, it’s not right how old people can be so frightened by these calls. could end up really harming them.

Just got a really scrambled message about HMRC and now I’ve blocked the number. Too dodgy to bother with.

Got a robo call saying it was HMRC, kept telling me ‘we've been trying to contact you’ and claimed there was a legal case filed against me. It asked me to press 1 to speak to someone about it. I just ended the call straight away. This was the second call in just three days. Come on, HMRC on a Saturday? Definitely a scam!

A caller pretending to be from HMRC phoned my 88-year-old mum and claimed she had an arrest warrant out for her. You can imagine how shaken she was by the whole thing. Honestly, these sorts of scams are just awful!

Over the last week, I’ve received numerous calls from various numbers, all relaying identical messages. I’ve taken the step to report these to the HMRC phishing team at [email protected], providing them with comprehensive details - including the caller's number, my phone number, the timing of the calls, and what was said during the conversations. One of the numbers that rang me was 02033223994.

Today at about 12.46, I got a call from this number. They claimed to be from HMRE and said they’d been trying to get hold of me. I didn’t really want to hear any more, so I just ended the call and asked TalkTalk to block the number.

I received a voicemail purporting to be from HMRC. The message stated that they are on the verge of taking action against me and instructed me to press one to get in touch with my assigned case officer. Quite concerning, really!

Got a call from someone claiming to be from hmrc - total scam. It was one of those automated messages saying they're taking legal action against me, and if I press one, I’d be connected to a “caseworker” to sort out payment. I’d already had a call on march 30th from a “charles robinson” in the so-called legal department at hmrc. He went on about how if i doubted he was legit, i could just hang up - but warned that if i did, my info would be sent to the courts and police would arrive in 30 minutes. Definitely just a scam trying to scare people.

I've received several calls asserting they're from HMRC, but as soon as I pose any questions, they just hang up. Seems quite dodgy to me - does anyone else have a similar experience?

I got a call from 02033223994 earlier today. When I picked up, the voice on the other end claimed, “We’ve been searching for you; this is Her Majesty’s Government,” and droned on about some tax matter. I decided to cut the conversation short and hung up as it clearly sounded like a scam - how absurd! The audacity to impersonate the government!

I received a rather alarming automated message claiming that I was facing legal action for an outstanding debt to HMRC. It instructed me to press 1 to talk to my “guidance officer” or something to that tune. When I was eventually connected to a rather unconvincing chap, he completely changed the narrative and proceeded to request my personal information. That was my cue to end the call abruptly. I truly hope these despicable scammers are apprehended soon. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/phishing-and-bogus-emails-hm-revenue-and-customs-examples/phishing-emails-and-bogus-contact-hm-revenue-and-customs-examples - caller: A dodgy con artist

Beware of HMRC Scams! I received an automated message claiming that HMRC was taking legal action against me and urging me to press a number to speak to someone about making a payment. I recognised straight away it was a scam, especially after a similar call I received on March 30. The person on the line, claiming to be “Charles Robinson” from the HMRC Legal Department, implied that if I didn’t believe he was legitimate, I could hang up, but warned that doing so would result in my details being forwarded to the courts, and I’d receive a call from the police shortly after. When I pressed him for specifics about the alleged unpaid tax and the exact amount so that I could consult with my accountant, he bluntly stated, “We’re not interested in any accountant.” I reiterated that I certainly was, especially if there were any errors involved. He continued his spiel, and I spoke over him. I asked again about the amount, and he insisted I confirm my date of birth and other personal details. I expressed my discomfort sharing such information over the phone, but he talked over me again. At that point, he audaciously said, “Just shut up!” I retorted, “Did you genuinely just tell me to shut up? I don’t believe that’s appropriate behaviour for someone representing HMRC.” His response? “I’m hanging up now.” - The caller identified himself as ‘Charles Robinson’ but had quite a thick Asian accent.

I recently received a rather alarming call from this number, and I have no clue who it was. The caller mentioned something about HMRC and went as far as to threaten me with arrest if I dared to cut the line. - number: 02033223994

I've been inundated with numerous voicemail messages from the number 02033223994, each asserting that a lawsuit has been filed against me and urging me to press 1 to connect with a case officer. To say I think it's a scam would be an understatement; I've gone ahead and erased all those messages without a second thought.

I recently received a rather alarming call from a certain Mr Charles Roberson. He asserted that an arrest warrant had been issued against me. The call started quite oddly, as he greeted me with, "How may I assist you?" To which I responded, "Well, you rang me; how can I assist you?" He then proceeded to rattle off my name, address, and postcode, ominously warning that if I terminated the call, the police would be dispatched to apprehend me over some supposed tax issue. In a moment of disbelief, I passed the phone to my husband. Poor chap, the caller seemed utterly flustered and unsure how to proceed. My husband, sensing it was all a ruse, promptly ended the call. Quite the bizarre experience, I must say!
