Got one of those calls claiming to be from HMRC, just like loads of others on here have said. Honestly, the police oughta look into this and get these scammers done for it. Along with that bloke who keeps ringing up pretending he's from Microsoft trying to sort out my computer! Fingers crossed, once Brexit proper kicks in, maybe these calls will finally stop. Funny enough, every single call seems to be coming from Central London.

Like many others here, I got a call from someone pretending to be HMRC, threatening legal action. I never hit “1” or anything, but these sorts of calls are really distressing and seriously need to be dealt with.

Today I got a ring from this number claiming I owe tax from 2009, about £1000 or something and they said I’d have to pay it. I told them I’m a pensioner and I don’t owe anything but as soon as I said no, they just cut me off. I was going to mention that I’ve always been on benefits but never got the chance.

This morning I got a call that actually woke me up, it was really horrible. I was pretty stressed about it until I came across this page. Seeing all the comments helped a lot. Thanks so much for having this here!

Received a call supposedly from HMRC saying I’m being taken to court. The message was automated and weirdly didn’t mention my name, so I didn’t hit 1 like they asked. Instead, I looked it up online. Honestly, why do we get bombarded with this rubbish?

I got a call from someone claiming to be from the Inland Revenue, saying there’s a lawsuit against me. It’s ridiculous. How come nothing’s done about these scam calls when the number must belong to a real person somewhere? Someone really needs to put an end to this nonsense!

Not long ago, I got a call from this number claiming to be from HMRC, saying they were taking legal action and to press 1 to talk to someone, which I did. The call ended abruptly, so I phoned back to ask who they were and where they were calling from. A man said, "This is Dave at HMRC London HQ." Then he asked for my name and wanted to speak to my ex-husband, asking me to hand the phone over to him. I explained my ex doesn’t live here anymore and asked why they were ringing me. He said he’d check and someone would call me back, then just hung up. Feeling really anxious, I called again, but this time it went to a voicemail with a woman speaking in an American accent asking for a name and number to get a callback. I didn’t leave any info and looked up the number online, seeing loads of reports about scams linked to it! Honestly, these fraudsters need to be stopped for good!

I help out at a care home for elderly people, and a lady there got a recorded message from this number saying HMRC was taking legal action against her. It told her to 'press 1 to talk to your case manager.' It really worried her, so she came to me for help. I reassured her it was all fake and told her to just ignore it. Such a rubbish trick that only causes unnecessary stress.

Got a voicemail saying HMRC is going to sue me. I didn’t buy into it or press 1 to talk to someone, mainly cause HMRC don’t have my landline number. Feels like a scam to me since I’ve had no emails or calls on my work mobile and I’ve already done my tax return and paid up. Gotta admit, it did freak me out for a moment.

Today I received a call from someone claiming to be from HMRC, warning about imminent prosecution. I just straight up told him to bring it on as I have the top barrister around. The whole thing felt really intimidating, especially for our office team.

Got a call earlier today, some recorded voice claiming to be HMRC and saying I'd got a lawsuit against me. Total scam, HMRC always sends letters before anything like that happens. Honestly, these scammers deserve to be taken down with legal action themselves.

Got a call off this number saying they were from H.M.R.C. and to press 1 to talk to a case worker. Complete scam, don’t bother. I’m on the do-not-call list, so how they managed to get my number is beyond me.

This number called me earlier today, I picked up and it was an automated voice claiming to be from HMRC. It said there was legal action against me and asked me to press 1, which I did, but then the call just ended. When I tried ringing back, I got a message asking me to leave a voicemail and the voice sounded American. I've since blocked the number. Really grateful for finding this site - without it I’d have been proper stressed.

Got a call from this guy on a Saturday, can you believe it? I’m still waiting for the police to show up. He was saying the same rubbish about people owing money to the courts, which honestly, sounds like a load of nonsense. But on a serious note, it’s really not on for someone to phone up and upset my kids just because they picked up the phone. Someone really ought to put a stop to these calls, they’re causing unnecessary stress.

This number rang me up and I ended up speaking to some bloke called Brian Nelson, sounded like he had an Asian accent but was using an English name. Pretty obvious scam if you ask me. I’m trying to figure out how to report this to the right people. Definitely something that needs to be flagged.

This morning 11/02/17 I had a call from this number, it was a prerecorded voice claiming to be from HMRC saying there's a legal case against us. It's really annoying and upsetting for some folks, this kind of thing shouldn't be allowed to carry on.

Some bloke rang me saying he was from HMRC, warning me I'd be arrested and taken to court if I didn't sort things out in half an hour. He said his name was Brian Newman or something. Told him I work in law and he just cut me off straight away. Honestly, it’s worrying how scary these threats are, especially for people who might be more vulnerable and easily fooled by calls like this.

Today, we got a call from 02033222460 saying HMRC were going to take us to court or something along those lines. When I tried ringing back, the line was just dead. My missus is unwell and this kinda call really shook her up. Is there any way to track these scammers and stop them from bothering people?

Got calls from this number a few times recently. Each time I answer, the message is kinda chopped but says something like, "filing lawsuit against you, press 1 to talk to your case officer, thanks." Feels like a dodgy attempt, and pressing 1 probably hooks you up to a premium rate line or a scammer. Would stay clear of it.

Got a recorded spam call supposedly from HMRC, asking me to press 1. Then some bloke with awful English said I'd be arrested in 30 minutes for unpaid taxes from 2005 to 2015. I just hung up straight away. Honestly, whoever’s behind these calls ought to be taken to court.

Today my 92-year-old dad got a call from this number. Thankfully he didn’t answer, but they left a message saying he had a civil case and to press 1 to speak to his case worker. I explained to him it was a scam but he was really upset by it all. These scam callers are the worst.

So this bloke called me but couldn’t even get my name right. He claimed I owed tax from way back, like between 2005 and 2015 or something. When I told him my employer was supposed to handle that, he didn’t seem happy. Then he started threatening, saying the police would be at my door in 30 minutes with an arrest warrant. I didn’t waste any more time and just ended the call.
