It’s clear what these tricksters are doing-they're making a vast number of calls to verify which ones are active by gauging who picks up. Then, a few days down the line, they’ll try their luck again with their scams, which usually either pitch a supposedly better mobile or broadband deal or warn you that ‘your bank account is compromised.’ By refraining from answering and promptly adding these numbers to your blocked list (there are free apps available for Android and iOS that can assist with this if your phone lacks a built-in blocking feature), you're significantly reducing the chance of these con artists trying their luck with you again. They’re unlikely to persist when they realise they’re wasting time and resources on unresponsive numbers. As I mentioned, I'm convinced there’s a troubling security issue at play involving overseas call centres and major companies within the UK. There also appears to be an extensive, well-coordinated group of spammers, likely operating from London or using phone numbers based in the capital. I've even chatted with some of these spammers on a second untraceable phone to get a sense of their operations. The individuals I've spoken to sound like they might be UK nationals, often with South Asian accents. They really ought to be taken down, and it’s infuriating that the government seems to be turning a blind eye. The moment one number gets shut down, they just pivot to another 020 number. I’ve already blocked at least ten of these cheeky blighters!

Complete fool!' and promptly ended the call, blocking the number afterwards!

I've received calls from +442033190702, 02031290630, and +447427558302 as well. There was also an incident involving a verification code from Vodafone, and it seems that an iPhone was ordered to a location in Manchester, M14. Quite alarming, to say the least!
