Picked up the phone and there was silence for about 10 seconds before they just cut off. Been getting loads of weird sales calls and fake HMRC ones recently, so I decided to check the number out. Seems like quite a few people are wondering about it too.

Got a call and when I picked up, there was silence and then it ended the call fairly quick. Decided to block that number now.

I got a few calls from this number, then one from 02033190703, and afterwards the first number rang me again. Every time they called, they would only stay on the line for a few seconds before cutting off. Pretty strange behaviour if you ask me.

Got a call and no one spoke even after I answered it a couple of times. Eventually I picked up properly but still nothing was said. Pretty sure it’s one of those automated calls trying to find someone on the line, so I just ended the call. Definitely looks like spam to me. Best to just block it.

They ring me, then just drop the call, and I’m sure they go and pass my number around to other firms who’ll use it to take advantage.

They barely said their company name properly and then started going on about how I'm some loyal and valued customer. Then they just ended the call abruptly.

This number rang me up pretending to be o2 and said they had a discount for me. Then, just after, I got a text with a one time code from o2. Seems like they were after my account and needed that code. Really tricky move, so watch out!

For the past couple months since switching my phone contract to Three, I’ve been getting quite a few calls from 020 numbers, which got me thinking that maybe Three - or possibly other networks using call centres overseas, like in India or Eastern Europe - have some kind of security flaw where customers' numbers end up on spammer lists. My tip if you keep getting these calls? Don’t pick up. When I did answer, the line was silent and then just cut off quickly. If you ring back, you get a robotic message saying no-one's available. What I reckon they’re doing is bombarding loads of numbers to see which ones are answered. Then, a few days or weeks later, they call again with some scam - normally pretending to offer better deals on mobile or broadband, or saying your bank details have been compromised. Blocking these numbers is key - either your phone might let you block calls straight away, or there are free apps you can download for Android or iPhone that do it for you. If you don’t answer or block them, the scammers will probably give up trying that number eventually since it looks inactive. Honestly, I’m convinced there’s some sort of leak or breach going on between UK companies and these foreign call centres, and a well-organised spam operation behind it. I’ve even chatted to some of them (using a burner phone so they can’t trace me), and from what I heard, they’re likely UK-based folks speaking with Indian, Pakistani accents. These scammers need to be stopped, but it seems like authorities aren’t doing anything. Whenever one number gets shut down, they just pick up a new 020 number. I’ve ended up blocking at least 10 different 020 numbers by now!

The same number popped up on my phone, but I didn’t pick up. Right after, I had a quick look and spotted quite a few folks had left bad reviews about it. These days I just block numbers like that, no point ringing back. There’s so many dodgy calls these days that I usually just ignore them without a second thought.

Normally I just ignore these calls or let them ring out, but today I decided to humour them. The caller said they were calling from Vodafone. We went back and forth for about five minutes until he began asking for my personal info. That’s when I called him out, saying “you’re trying to scam me, aren’t you?” His reply? “Oh, just shut up,” and bam, he ended the call!

Got a call from this number claiming to be Vodafone. I asked some questions to verify and the bloke just started shouting and then cut me off. Had a look online and the number definitely isn’t Vodafone at all.

I decided to humour the caller, who turned out to be a scammer. They kept pestering me for personal info, but of course I made everything up. When they asked for my email, I spelled out Y-O-U-A-R-E-A-S-C-A. The bloke stuttered ‘double M-E-R?’ and I just said ‘yeah’. Then he lost it and shouted ‘F**k you!’ to which I fired back ‘Do you really think you can trick me? What a muppet!’ I hung up straight away and blocked the number.

I received a dodgy call from a number claiming to be from a London area, supposedly my mobile network provider. As soon as I began to probe him with a few questions, he turned quite rude and started hurling insults my way. In the end, I opted to block the number entirely.
