I received a rather dubious call from someone claiming to be affiliated with Microsoft, who proceeded to alarm me with news of multiple errors on my computer. Regrettably, I was taken in by their spiel and allowed them to perform a series of operations on my PC, which they asserted would rectify various issues. We coughed up £65 (though I’ve been told it’s actually £61) under the impression that this was a fee to ensure our computer's longevity. To my dismay, the confirmation message clarified that this was merely valid for 365 weeks! What a letdown!

We've been inundated with messages from someone named Andy Stewart from this number. She professes to be affiliated with our provider, Windows, and says she’s trying to help resolve some issues with our computer. She came across as quite genuine, but I'm left wondering if we're just being overly suspicious. Could she actually assist us in clearing some space and eradicating a few viruses? Any thoughts on this?

A company recently contacted my mother claiming there was a problem with her iMac and offered to resolve it for the tidy sum of £31. The whole interaction became rather bewildering as they kept transferring her to a series of different supervisors. It appears to be an overseas operation. When we rang the number they provided, they mentioned their website as supportpconline.com, but then quickly changed it to pcsolutions.com, all while maintaining the same phone number. Alarmingly, my mother was asked to disclose her bank account information and the details on the reverse of her card. Please exercise caution!

Received a call this afternoon claiming that our computer has a virus. The caller even knew our surname! We told her we’d reach out to Microsoft ourselves. She then mentioned she’d ring us again at five o’clock today. Do you reckon we should report this?
