Picked up the phone and an automated voice claimed I had an ongoing tax fraud case with HMRC, threatening arrest if I hung up. Feeling a bit amused, I pressed 1 to speak to someone. When she came on, I said I actually work for HMRC and asked why she was bothering me. She responded, “Oh, you work there? Why haven’t I heard of you? Which branch are you from?” I told her London. “You daft woman, there’s no HMRC office in London. Get off my call. Idiot.” That was quite entertaining.

I've received about six calls from a number I don't recognise. I tend to avoid answering unfamiliar digits. Fortunately, my phone has this nifty feature that announces the number and its location, and it turns out this one’s from London. Not that I have any acquaintances in that area! Does anyone happen to have a clue who it could be?

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Promise Life, they said they weren’t selling anything but then mentioned a rep would call in a couple of days. Told them straight up that this was a sales pitch and asked them to kindly buzz off!
