Picked up the phone and an automated voice claimed I had an ongoing tax fraud case with HMRC, threatening arrest if I hung up. Feeling a bit amused, I pressed 1 to speak to someone. When she came on, I said I actually work for HMRC and asked why she was bothering me. She responded, “Oh, you work there? Why haven’t I heard of you? Which branch are you from?” I told her London. “You daft woman, there’s no HMRC office in London. Get off my call. Idiot.” That was quite entertaining.

Earlier today, my mobile rang and it was some chap from abroad on the line. I inquired how he came by my number, and he mentioned something about it being part of a data collection. I've received about six calls from a number I don't recognise. I tend to avoid answering unfamiliar digits. Fortunately, my phone has this nifty feature that announces the number and its location, and it turns out this one’s from London. Not that I have any acquaintances in that area! Does anyone happen to have a clue who it could be?
