Had this number pop up on my phone three times today. Spoke to a woman who sounded Asian with a thick Indian accent, and I flat out told her I wasn't falling for her Windows Support scam. They’ve clearly been running this con for ages and must be laughing knowing no laws can really touch them. Is there any way to track down where this number’s actually coming from?

For a few months, I was convinced those so-called 'Microsoft' people were locked up. I used to give them a right telling off, telling them not to bother me again. About a fortnight ago, the guy on the phone sounded like he might be Indian or Pakistani, probably calling from some big call centre. He usually rings about 11 in the morning now. Once he got familiar with my voice, he just hangs up. Earlier, the others would ring around teatime, say about 5.30 pm. Doesn't matter if they're talking about that or some charity - I cut them off straight away, saying "I'm not interested."

Got two rings from this number around half past four in the afternoon, London time. The callers said they were from the Windows Security Centre and warned me that my computer was compromised. They went on about fixing my Windows ID by supplying a supposedly secure new one. I played along for a bit until they asked me to login to some Weebly site, which I reckon was a trick to install malware or something dodgy. I ended the call there. No way they’re legit Microsoft reps, this feels like a scam with bad intentions for sure.

Got loads of calls today, 18/01/2016, from some bloke who just wouldn’t stop. Told him to piss off a few times but no luck. Eventually just left my phone down so he could have a good chat with the wall. After he gave up, had a look online and found out a bunch of other people have had the same hassle. Proper nuisance!

She rattled off some long code and warned my system would be locked unless I followed her instructions. Claimed she was with Microsoft, but it sounded dodgy. Got a call from some bloke claiming to be from Microsoft around 8.30pm, sounded Asian. When I called him out on the scam, he got proper rude and sarcastic, even told his mates to applaud me for seeing through it - was actually quite nasty about it. I've already reported it to the ICO and I'd honestly advise anyone else to do the same.

Got a call from this number today, 10 Dec 2015. The woman on the other end was insisting I had a Windows PC, even though I told her she was wrong. She warned me not to lie or they'd block me. I just said, fine, block me then. She ended the call, so I went and blocked her number right after.

This morning I fell for one of these scams - they rattled off the same spiel I've seen other people mention. Apparently, they used something named syskey to take over my PC. When they asked for £198, I finally twigged it was a con. I said no, and the woman got really nasty, even accusing me of being the hacker since I wouldn’t play along. They totally screwed up my computer, so I had to run the repair tool and revert it to an earlier backup. It seems fine now. Does anyone know if there’s a risk they grabbed any sensitive info while they had control?

On a Friday afternoon, I got a call from someone who sounded like an Asian woman. Since I keep getting these calls, I quickly put the phone down. Got a ring from some bloke with an Asian accent claiming he was from Microsoft. Yesterday I got a call from this number, and some angry woman was on the line claiming that a criminal gang had hacked my Windows network. She demanded access to my PC to fix it, but I told her my computer was broken and I'd just chucked it in the bin. Got a call from someone saying there was an issue with a computer, but my elderly mum who's just lost her partner hasn't got a computer at all. They kept ringing back straight away even after I told them not to call again. The caller got quite rude and gave me a local phone number to ring, which I did. Turns out, that number belonged to a local woman who said she'd had about six calls earlier that hour about the same 'computer problem'. Please pass this on to the right team. I managed to record the call made at 7.43pm using my mobile's voicemail.

They tried to get me with some clever talk about a code from my PC, but I quickly realised it's the same code they give to everyone. I wasn’t about to fall for it, so I asked them to provide a number I could ring back at my own time. They gave me 1872 438034 (remembering to add the 44 at the start). That’s when I got suspicious! So this woman with an Asian accent rang me up, talking super fast and saying her name was Sheryl Parker. When I asked what company she was from, she said "Midas CC Touch" and gave me the number 02033180712. She claimed my computer was being hacked by cyber criminals and they’d shut it down for good in half an hour. I told her I’d ring back on that number, but she insisted that if I didn’t, she’d be back on the line in 5 minutes. She also mentioned some computer ID like 888DCA60. Definitely felt like a dodgy scam.

Something similar happened to me like a few others here have shared. The guy was quite aggressive, trying to scare me by saying he’d shut down my computer and stuff. When I asked where he was calling from, he said ‘Dar-London’ or something like that. From what he mentioned about the name linked to my computer, it dawned on me he must have found my phone number in a directory. I hung up on him once, then he called me again, but I didn’t follow any of his instructions and luckily he hasn’t called me since.

This morning, my mum got called by this number no less than five times and was spoken to terribly. Thankfully I was around because she got really upset after being accused of lying. I had to look up the number and show her it’s linked to loads of other calls - clearly a scam. It’s awful how these people carry on. This number has rung me twice today, both times with really strong Asian accents. First it was a lady, then a bloke just now saying my licence had been compromised. I lied and said my brother-in-law works at Windows and was here, asking if he wanted to chat to him. He said "go ahead," so I replied that my laptop’s been broken for ages, like 3 years. Hey, So I got a call from a bloke with a really strong Asian accent claiming to be from Windows. He told me that my Windows ID was being used in different places and said he had to cancel it. Then he said he’d give me a new ID number. I didn’t fall for it, cos I figured inputting that number would give him full access to my computer info. After I called him out for being a scammer, he kept ringing me back. Eventually, I got him to spill his number (02033180712), which he said needed the +44 in front. He said he was based in Victoria Lane, Cardinal Palace, London. He struggled to tell me the postcode till I explained I meant a zip code, then he gave me SW1 ESJ. Got a ring from a woman who started rattling off loads of details and wanted me to follow her instructions. I had nothing better to do, so I just played along for a bit. Heads up about a lady called Christine Jones who claims to be from some kind of Windows support - couldn’t catch the exact name cause of her strong accent. She rattled off personal info like my name and address real quick, definitely trying to catch me off guard. She pushed the classic trick saying my computer was hacked and Microsoft was getting alerts about illegal stuff being done through it. Then she warned if I didn’t jump on my PC to confirm my ID straight away, my account might get shut down and I’d be in trouble for the supposed crimes!

I had some bloke call me three times this evening, claiming he was from Windows and insisting I needed his help to stop my computer from being hacked. He was proper pushy and rude, so I told him to piss off more than once. When I refused to bite, he threatened to keep calling forever until I spoke to him. Some bloke called claiming to be from Windows, saying my Windows membership was nearly up. I told him if people still fell for that tired old scam, no wonder, and promptly ended the call. He didn’t hesitate to ring back immediately. I yelled at him, told him I wasn’t stupid and to stop calling me, hoping that made things clear enough. Yet, he rang again! Luckily, my husband answered the next time and told the caller he was with the police and the call was being tracked. Seems that put an end to it at last.

I got a call from these lot today (12/08/2015) and they tried to freak me out by saying they'd "cut off my internet in 2 hours," even though I told them we don't even own a laptop or computer here. On the morning of 1 August 2015, around 7:30am, I got a call from someone claiming to be with Microsoft. He told me my computer was hacked and said I needed to enter a code to stop losing control of it. I asked him for his number and he gave me 02033180712. I told him I'd call Microsoft to check if his number was genuine, and that I was still really tired and needed sleep before looking at my computer. He insisted I turn my PC on right away, but I told him I'd do it once I'd rested. Luckily, when I looked up the number later, I found loads of people had reported the same scam.

My mum, who is 81 and suffers from dementia and Alzheimer's, has been hassled by these lot three times this month already. Each time she says she doesn’t have a computer and ends the call, they ring back insisting “you didn’t let us explain”. This morning she got another call, but I picked it up. The whole situation was quite unsettling and honestly made me snap back at her pretty sharply. Luckily, she didn’t manage to achieve anything!

So, I just got a call from someone claiming to be with Microsoft. They told me my computer got hacked and someone else was using it somewhere else. They even asked me to turn on my computer and jot down this weird CLSID number they gave me. Bit sketchy if you ask me!

Got a call from 02033180712, which somehow got through even though I have blocked withheld and international numbers. Of course, it was one of those Microsoft scam calls. I told the caller I’m registered with the Telephone Preference Service and then hung up. Moments later, the same lady, who sounded Indian or Asian, rang back asking why I’d ended the call. Since I’ve been in telecommunications and IT Support for 18 years, I told her she was breaking the law by ignoring the TPS. I insisted they remove my details straight away and let her know exactly how I felt about her harassing me with a second call. My next move is to report these scammers to the Ombudsman. I’d urge others to do the same - they do know about these fraudsters but it’s important everyone raises their voice.

Got a call from some scammers claiming to be from Microsoft, talking all threatening and not giving up. Definitely tell the cops or whatever legal folks you can, because they’ve got ways of tracking these muppets even if they’re overseas. Just a heads up - they can’t actually shut your computer down, they're just fraudsters so don’t believe a word!

Got a call from some aggressive Indian scammer who got really angry and told me to bloody well go away when I hung up on him. I reckon they’ve got my name and address or something because they’ve called me twice already. First time they claimed to be from Talk Talk, and the second time it was Microsoft. Proper dodgy, these calls.

Watch out for these call centres from India, they’re total scammers. They’ll tell you there’s an issue with your PC and say they need to install some software to repair it, but then they sneak into your computer without permission. After that, they get into your PayPal and use your linked card to make purchases. If you come across anything like this, you should report it straight away to Action Fraud online so the police can hopefully shut these con artists down.

This happened to me too! I got a call from someone with an Indian accent saying my laptop was hacked and being used for illegal stuff. They told me they'd lock it up in 5 minutes so nobody could use it again. The guy gave me some fake computer ID and a bogus phone number. I just ended the call right away.

Sounds like a right jape! Just had a call from someone claiming to be affiliated with Windows, saying they were here to assist with our supposedly hacked computer. It all seems rather dodgy, if you ask me!

My landline kept ringing a couple of times but I didn’t pick up straight away, only after it rang three times within a couple of minutes. When I finally answered, some bloke with an Indian accent said he was calling about my Windows licence. I told him I use a Mac instead, and suddenly he switched his story saying it was about something else. I ended the call, but then the phone rang once more. This time he got a bit grumpy so I just cut him off. He tried calling again but I just answered then put the phone down straight away. After that, he never bothered again.

Today I got a call from this number and a bloke with a strong Indian accent said he was from Windows, claiming my PC was at risk. He rattled off some number he said was my computer’s licence and then mentioned that as many as 17 hackers were apparently using it. I told him I wasn’t interested and hung up. Somehow, less than a minute later, he rang again and sounded pretty pushy, asking why I ended the call. I told him I’d get a proper computer expert to check if there was a real issue, and he snapped back that there wasn’t much they could do. I shot back, “And you can fix it over the phone? I doubt it!” He then warned, quite angrily, that if I didn’t sort it out, my computer would be finished. I just ended the call again, no more messing about.

Got a call earlier, told the guy quite a few times I wasn’t interested but he kept pushing. When I hung up, he rang me like twice more and during one chat, he actually called me a liar! Honestly, it was a really rude and upsetting experience. Would appreciate if you could check what's going on and put an end to these calls.

I got a call from someone who sounded Indian but said her name was Caroline Jones, saying she was from Windows and that my computer was supposedly 87% hacked. She kept telling me I only had 30 minutes before it was too late. She was really pushy and didn’t accept me saying no at all. I’ve already reported the number to the ICO. This kind of call is awful, especially for elderly or vulnerable folk who might get really upset. They really need to find a way to put an end to these aggressive scammers.

Had a call from someone with a foreign female voice, really pushy, kept insisting my computer was at risk from hackers. Sounded just like those Windows scam stories I've heard before. They wouldn't take no for an answer.
