@ survey folks working for kia finance. the woman with a scottish accent seemed pretty legit, asking about the car i bought last year. i kinda played along since i wasn’t sure if it was a con. she mentioned an interview and £80 if i was up for it, after answering some qualifying questions. unsurprisingly, didn’t pass the test. at one point, she put me on hold to check with her manager about something. still felt a bit dodgy when she got back to me so fast. curious if they ring me back again.

Just had some muppets calling themselves 'Eco Save Renewals' this week. They hung up on me straight away. I tried calling them back to see what company it was, but all I got was silence and no one answering. It’s daft how they don’t get that they’re the ones wasting cash, not me.

Someone rang me claiming they were doing a government survey. When I said I wasn’t interested, they asked me why. I just said I didn’t see why they’d call me out of the blue and I’m not keen on sharing info with strangers. They kept saying they wouldn’t need any personal business details... if that’s the case, why even ring me up at all!

To my surprise, they decided against compensating me for my time. In fairness, if they weren’t going to pay, I might as well have given them a taste of their own medicine and wasted a bit of their time in return!

Today, I got a call on my mobile from this number claiming they were doing a survey for the Pensions Regulator. They asked if I was involved in my company’s pension scheme. Since I’m actually a trustee, it seemed legit at first. But when I asked where they got my number from, they went silent for a bit then just said “from the government”. I told them I wasn’t comfortable answering questions on the phone because I couldn’t verify who they were - sounded like a random cold call to me. They then asked me to confirm my email so they could send me something, but they already knew my email anyway. Of course, no email has shown up, so I’ll be blocking this number now. For my landline, I use Sky Shield to block calls since the TPS doesn't catch everything.

Some bloke named John rang me claiming he was from the government pension regulator, asking about automatic pension enrolment and wanted to chat with the manager. I told him the manager would get back to him, but he said they don’t accept incoming calls. Then he said he worked for a market research firm in Scotland. Funny thing is, he didn’t sound Scottish at all - more like an Indian guy trying to speak with an American accent.

I reckon they’re pretending to be the nhs just to trick you into giving your info, then selling it to whoever wants to buy it. This is exactly how they get everything to steal your identity and waste your money or take out loans pretending to be you. The nhs never calls to do surveys, so watch out.

Actually wasnt some spam. Got a ring from them saying they were doing some research for the NHS. I had a quick look into the company (scott porter), turns out they’re proper, and they’re linked with the market research society which also seems totally above board. The call was brief and the person was really polite. Seems like good research work for the NHS too.

At about half past eight in the evening I got a call from them but didn’t pick it up.

Around 8.30 in the evening I picked up the phone this time, usually I avoid answering unfamiliar long numbers. The person said they were from some business, maybe linked to ICM, doing surveys or asking questions about the local area, asked if I was interested. I said no straight away. These calls always seem suspicious to me, like they’re just trying to keep you on the line for who knows what. Nowadays, it’s impossible to trust any of these calls so I just don’t bother answering anymore. If companies are real and want to reach us, they should be forced to contact us by letter first and banned from making calls, so we’d only pick up if we actually know who’s calling. There’s no way we can block all these annoying calls ourselves, the government really needs to make a law to stop them calling folks altogether.

This number has rung me loads, but I usually just ignore it. Some calls come in dead late which is quite unsettling, especially since I’m a disabled pensioner living on my own. When your phone buzzes late at night, the first thought is always that there’s some emergency with your family. It feels like a real invasion of my privacy. The government seriously ought to put a stop to this nonsense.

I’m really fed up with how many unsolicited calls I get, seriously, one came through half past midnight which is just ridiculous. Why is this still allowed? The people behind these calls should face legal action for pestering folks like this. Being ex-directory doesn’t stop them either, they seem to find your details from somewhere else anyway. It’s an absolute farce. Honestly, the government ought to step in and ban the selling of personal info like names, addresses, and phone numbers for marketing. Cold calling should be illegal plain and simple. If someone wants a service or product, they’ll reach out themselves, no need for these annoying interruptions.
