Just had another call from someone claiming to be from "Microsoft." The chap had a rather thick accent and was urging me to go online to resolve issues he insisted I had. Quite the dodgy situation, I’d say!

Indeed, we received the very same message earlier today. The quality of the call was dreadful, to be honest. They mentioned they would ring us back, but that certainly didn't happen. It's clear they realised we caught on to the fact that this wasn't legitimate.

I received a call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft, alleging that my computer was having issues. However, after checking on the Microsoft website, it appears this was likely a scam. If you find yourself in a similar situation, do insist they provide details about themselves and make sure to report the incident.

I had an unexpected phone call from someone who had a notably Asian accent, claiming to be associated with 'Online PCs Ltd' on behalf of Microsoft. He asserted that my PC’s IP address was showing errors on Microsoft’s end and urged me to visit a particular website where he could supposedly rectify these issues. I informed him that I owned two computers and asked him to identify which IP address he was referring to. The address he provided was complete nonsense, and when I pressed him on it, he stated it belonged to his company's server. This 'George McLaren' insisted he was Scottish and based in Glasgow. Being Scottish myself, I could tell he didn’t recognise my accent and struggled to even spell my obviously Scottish surname! As a retired IT Network Manager from Hewlett Packard, I can categorically say this is a scam. George (or whatever your real name is), you’ve been exposed! I’m also curious about how you obtained my phone number.

I've found myself in a remarkably similar predicament; he had my name and address on hand. When I mentioned that I hadn’t ever registered a Windows copy at this new residence due to my recent move, he spouted some drivel about broadband IPs somehow broadcasting my details to them. Honestly, it was so absurd that I just hung up!

I recently received a call from someone with an Asian accent who claimed to be from Microsoft Technical Support in Glasgow. He mentioned that he had a report indicating that my computer was compromised and at risk of trojans and malware. He urged me to turn on my computer and follow his instructions, but I firmly declined. He continued to press me, insisting that my computer was in danger. Despite me repeatedly informing him that I wouldn’t comply and that I had alternative support arranged, he eventually lost patience and hung up.

It seems that someone claiming to be from Microsoft called us about error messages on our computer. Honestly, we're rather dubious about it, especially since we could hardly hear the person on the line - I think she went by 'George'. In the end, we opted to hang up. Has anyone else received a call from this number?

I received a rather dubious call from an Asian gentleman claiming to represent "Microsoft". He informed me that there were some significant issues with my internet connection - a statement that rang true as I’ve recently battled with a myriad of connectivity problems, having reformatted my device twice with little luck before opting to switch from Internet Explorer to Firefox. This chap was quick to pull up various ‘problems’ he claimed were logged on their end, assuring me he would assist in eradicating some supposed deadly Trojan threats from my computer. Now, to say I was sceptical would be an understatement - I’d certainly hold my own in a world championship for that! Nevertheless, he had already rattled off a fair few personal details and my address, which made me linger on his line longer than I probably should’ve. As the conversation continued, I felt my unease growing, and when I voiced my concerns, he would reassure me he was indeed from Microsoft and we should proceed. At one point, he even managed to gain control of my computer from his end, making it all seem rather plausible until the moment he asked me for my debit card's security number. At that, I cheekily replied, suggesting he’d better know what to do if he fancied a bit of fun in the sun - and promptly hung up. I attempted to shut my computer down properly but found it unresponsive, forcing me to cut the power at the mains. Shortly afterwards, he rang me back demanding £200 for his 'services'. I was having none of it and told him as much; he then lowered his asking price to £100, and finally to £50, but at that point, I’d had enough and hung up once more. After rebooting my system, I feared the worst. It took an eternity to start back up, and I was anxious about potential damage. Fortunately, I discovered that all that seemed amiss were a few missing desktop shortcuts, and both my AVG antivirus and Windows Defender had been disabled, requiring me to reactivate them. I hope sharing this experience serves as a cautionary tale for anyone else who might receive a similar call.
