A young woman with a London accent called and said her name was “Rosie Hunter” but I couldn’t catch the company she was from 'cause I was chuckling! She claimed I’d been in a no-fault accident. I asked, “When exactly did this accident happen?” She paused and then repeated, “What date was the accident?” I replied, “I’m the one asking the questions here, on your dime!” Then she hung up - cheeky Rosie! These folks are out here tryna get your private info, so don’t give them anything! They rang me saying I’d been in an accident and wanted to check stuff like my address. I just told them I wasn’t sharing anything and ended the call. It did sound kinda like a really proper English voice but maybe a dodgy line or some robot. Best thing is to just BLOCK and don’t bother with them!

I received a phone call from a chap with an accent that wasn't local, inquiring about a road traffic incident from way back in 2011. He mentioned something about personal compensation and seemed to have a plethora of information regarding the incident. Naturally, I requested a contact number to check out the legitimacy of the company he was representing. I rang the number twice, and both times I was greeted by the same unfamiliar voice asking, “How can I help you?” When I pressed for confirmation of their identity, they promptly hung up! Quite suspicious, if you ask me!

I am constantly receiving calls on different 020 numbers. Today, two of these numbers, 02032909723 and 02079462020, called me, both on my mobile and my landline. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to answer them. I did manage to get a code from my service provider for my landline to help me stop these unwanted calls. However, I'm not sure how to do the same for my mobile. As I'm typing this, I just received another call, this time from 01134192316, and earlier from 0113 4931006. I now know that these are calls from Sparks Energy. When I answer and ask them not to call me, they are rude and abusive. They claim that I filled in a survey, but I never did anything of the sort. They become very sinister and even know my address, which they mention before hanging up. It's all quite intimidating and I'm really fed up. Can you please help? I am retired at 72 years old, so I always feel like I should answer my phone, but now these constant calls are causing me a lot of distress.

A female speaker with an American accent went by the name of Ashley and identified herself as a representative from Nationwide, located in Manchester. She provided a "callback number" to reach her on, which was stated as 0203 290 9723. However, when checking the last number that called using the 1471 service, it showed the number as 01234 945 006. Ashley mentioned that she was conducting a check regarding individuals who had been involved in an accident within the past two years. The conversation included odd delays on certain responses, creating the impression of an automated system.

I recently received a rather dodgy call from these con artists. When I inquired about the purpose of their call, I was transferred to a chap with a heavy accent whose grasp of English was quite poor. Politely, I requested to speak to someone who could articulate more clearly. I maintained my composure and remained civil, yet I was met with a barrage of expletives aimed at me. To top it off, he accused me of being a sex worker before abruptly hanging up! Rest assured, I will be lodging an official complaint regarding this incident!

I just received a phone call from someone who identified themselves as an employee of the "National Claims Unit." The caller was a female named Elizabeth, and her number was withheld. She mentioned that she had been informed about an accident involving someone at my address within the past two years and wanted to confirm its validity. I have a standard practice now, which is to refrain from answering any questions until I've had an opportunity to search for the company name on Google. In response, she expressed her relief that nobody had actually been in an accident. However, before I could interject and clarify that I hadn't answered her initial question, the lady kept speaking incessantly, drowning out my voice until I almost had to shout. Eventually, she abruptly ended the call. It wouldn't surprise me if it turned out to be an automated system. Additionally, perhaps her American accent contributed to her sounding somewhat automated to British ears.

I received an anonymous phone call from a woman with an American accent. She claimed to be from the National Claim Unit and said that someone in our house had been involved in an accident in the past two years. It was clear to me that this was a scam, so I did not provide her with any information. I even questioned how she obtained our number since we are registered with TPS (Telephone Preference Service). Interestingly, similar to what others have reported, it felt like I was dealing with a sophisticated automated system (although the police dismissed this possibility when I informed them about the call). Everything seemed fine until the conversation veered off the "normal" track, which made me suspect it might be automated. The caller mentioned obtaining my details from RTA and then Manchester Police, which is why I decided to report it.

I have received a few of these calls before. They appear on my phone as "withheld," but this number is displayed. I have spoken to a woman with an American accent who claims she can assist with an accident. There are often long pauses before she replies, and it seems to me that her voice sounds computer-generated.

I received two calls in one day from a woman named Elizabeth claiming to be from the National Claims Unit in Manchester. She alleged that I had been involved in a road accident within the past two years, which was quite surprising to me as I haven't been involved in any accidents during the last decade. I managed to note down the telephone number provided, which turned out to be based in London, thus indicating that Elizabeth is not located in Manchester as she claimed. What concerns me even more is that when I asked for the company's address or any additional information, she refused to provide it. This has raised suspicions in my mind, leading me to believe that these individuals could be dishonest "ambulance chasers" or criminals.

I recently received a call from an unidentified number, and it was similar to the one described. The caller, who identified herself as 'Elizabeth', spoke in fluent English but had a foreign accent. While she occasionally repeated phrases like 'My name is Elizabeth', she did provide responses to my basic queries. It never crossed my mind that it could be an automated voice, but thinking about it now, that seems plausible. I suppose even moderately advanced voice-recognition technology can be quite persuasive.

I recently received a phone call from an unidentified number. However, when I requested a number, they provided 02032909723. The caller claimed to be from the "National Claim Unit" and said they were located in Manchester. After speaking with them, I started to suspect that I was actually talking to a computer program instead of a person. The responses were delayed and repeated verbatim, even when they didn't quite match the question asked. This led me to believe that the program was simply responding to specific keywords.

I just got off the phone with Ashley, who provided the same information as before. Despite her claiming to be in Manchester, her telephone number indicated she was calling from London. Ashley laughed when I mentioned TPS (Telephone Preference Service) and insisted that I had been in an accident. She even asked me who had paid for the repairs, despite being informed there was no accident in the first place. When I requested contact details for where she received the accident report from, Ashley simply chuckled and mentioned that it came from the Government RTA department. As far as I know, no such department exists. It's frustrating that these individuals cannot be put a stop to. I mean, what's the point of registering with TPS if these nuisance calls continue daily?

I received a call from a woman named Ashley speaking with an American accent, claiming to be from the National Advice Bureau or a similar organization. She mentioned an alleged accident and requested further information. After noting down her details and learning that they were supposedly based in Manchester, I informed her that my number was registered with TPS and requested her to remove it from their database. Surprisingly, she refused to comply. Determined, I firmly reminded her that it was actually a legal requirement to do so. This seemed to have an impact on her, as she suddenly became more apologetic and assured me that she would delete my number, ending the conversation with a rather feeble "Have a good day".

I couldn't help but wonder why the government seems to be unable to put a stop to these annoying telephone pests.

I echo the sentiments expressed by Jim earlier. Today, I received a call from a woman, who had an unmistakable American twang, representing the Nationwide Advice Bureau. She claimed that someone in my household had suffered an accident within the last couple of years. I made it clear that wasn’t the case and mentioned that we are registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS). I even warned them that if they rang again, I’d report them. Yet, lo and behold, they rang me again at half six this evening! It appears another cold-calling complaint to the TPS is on the horizon. Received a peculiar telephone call regarding a fictional car accident. A young woman with a distinctive accent from the Commonwealth found it amusing when I informed her of my registration with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS), and requested her to remove my details from her database. She laughed again when I inquired about speaking to her supervisor, chuckled once more at the mention of her location, claiming Manchester, but providing a London phone number instead. Upon asking the country she was operating from, she burst into laughter once again and stated that she didn't know. I mentioned that she sounded exceptionally intoxicated and, unsurprisingly, she laughed yet again!
