Got a call claiming to be from HSBC, warning me about some unauthorised activity on my account. Totally seemed like a scam to me.

Got a call from someone acting like they were from HSBC, saying there was a £117 purchase on my card that I hadn’t made. They asked for a "cancellation code" that had supposedly been sent to me to stop the payment. Thankfully, I remembered that HSBC told me never to give that code to anyone, not even if they claim to be from the bank. So I didn’t give them a thing and just ended the call. If I had handed over that code, they probably would’ve accessed my account and taken my money. Seriously, don’t believe these calls!

That was rather odd! I picked up the call and heard a bloke's voice stumbling over his words, coupled with a lot of racket in the background. It had all the hallmarks of a dodgy scam, if you ask me, so I decided to end the call.

I got a missed call on my mobile from this local number. I called back using my work phone, and they immediately started asking me a couple of quick questions. I told them they had no idea who I was since I hadn’t even introduced myself, but oddly enough, they already knew my full name just from my work number, which felt a bit worrying. I tried to politely refuse, but the bloke kept pushing, so I ended up hanging up politely.
