Received a call on 02032902849 from an automated message claiming to be from the Inland Revenue & Customs, warning of legal action if I didn't call back. This was on 5th September 2018. Just another bunch trying to scam cash with no effort at all. Seriously, why dont the phone firms warn us properly or even block these numbers before the phone rings? They must surely know which numbers these p**kers keep using to prey on older folk by now.

Got a robo call pretending to be from HMRC, saying I need to call them about some legal issue or they’ll take action. No way I’m ringing back. HMRC would have sent proper letters before doing all that.

Got a robot voice leaving a message about some legal action, telling me to ring Jennifer Coleman. The message sounded nothing like HMRC, way too dodgy. Could be pretty dangerous if you pick up and start giving info. Be cautious and don’t hand over any details to these callers. Note down the reference number they give, look up the official number from a trusted source like the phone directory or their official site, and then call them back. Don’t ever dial the number they provide you with.

Got a recorded message saying it was from HMRC, but the number popped up as some Superdry shop which was weird. Definitely a scam, don’t share anything with them. If you’re concerned, best thing is to use a different phone to call HMRC directly - make sure you look up the real number yourself, not the one they’re pushing.

Got a voicemail from some robot saying there's a big problem and they'd take legal steps against me. They said they were from HMRC, but it felt dodgy as hell.

I got a call from 02032902849 and it was some robotic voice pretending to be HMRC. I ended the call pretty quickly before it finished talking. Honestly, if HMRC needed to speak, they’d come to my house, not send a creepy automated message. Who do these scammers think they are? Proper dodgy stuff, best to just hang up immediately.

This definitely seems like a scam to me, the voicemail was really robotic like it was done by a machine. From what I've read in other comments, HMRC don't actually ring you up like this. I'd say just ignore it and don't respond or share any info with them.

I got a call telling me HMRC had slapped a lawsuit on me, and then the bloke on the other end just started hurling swear words at me, calling me all sorts like a bloody w****r.

HMRC never phones people directly, they always send letters. So don’t share any of your personal info with anyone who calls claiming to be them. It’s definitely a scam!

The number showed up as international, but 020 is definitely a London code. They were going on about serious consequences and giving me a last warning if I didn’t call back. Total scam, so I just ignored it and deleted the message.

I got a call from someone claiming to be with HMRC, saying I had a court case against me. Sounded dodgy to me, like a scam or something. Never gave them any info and just hung up. If you get calls like this, be careful, they might be trying to trick you.
