I had the same thing happen to me like others have mentioned. A scary robotic voice saying it was Jennifer Brown from the Inland Revenue, which was just the last thing we wanted while we’re already waiting on HMRC to get in touch about my dad’s recent passing. I really can’t understand how these dodgy callers aren’t shut down, it’s just awful behaviour. Totally sickening! SCAMMERS FOR SURE! I was just about to call HMRC when this call came through, so the timing was suspicious as hell. While talking, I looked this number up and it creeped me out that they had some personal info about me. Proper dodgy scammers! The bloke sounded pretty convincing at first but he messed up a few things near the end, which made me rethink everything. This has clearly been happening for ages!! How long do they reckon it takes to sort these callers out? I’ve already reported it to the Fraud helpline. A man named Anthony Cooper, speaking with an Asian accent, called pretending to be from HMRC.
