Received a call from 02032900836, someone claiming to be Virgin Media. They directed me to a site called CIFAS FRAUD PREVENTION hosted on techuk.Webnode. Their email was something like [email protected][###]. The person on the phone wanted to remotely access my computer to supposedly fix internet and IP address hackers. Seems very risky since they pretended to be Virgin Media. Virgin Media themselves didn’t offer any assistance at all. Absolutely no help from them.

So my elderly mate who’s not in great health got a call from this number, they said they were from her bank. She ended up giving them some details and then found out £15,000 was taken out of her savings, plus £3,000 spent in China! She ended up on the phone with them for hours trying to sort it out. Really worrying stuff.

Got a call from a number claiming to be Halifax bank, but it was a total scam. How come this number is still ringing when BT must be aware it's dodgy? BT really needs to sort this out.

Watch out, I got a call from 02032900836 claiming my computer was hacked. Turns out, it’s just a scam. They try to get you to let them put malware on your machine so they can sneak in and steal all your passwords and sensitive info. Once they have that, you’re in big trouble. Don’t fall for it!

Someone named Alex Morris called me, claiming my laptop was hacked and they had to fix some stuff on it. Seemed pretty legit at first. The call got cut off suddenly, and since then, no follow-up calls from them.

I had a rather dodgy phone call from a chap with a thick Indian accent who insisted that my computer was under attack. He urged me to hop onto my device so he could guide me through steps to thwart any hacking attempts. Just a heads-up, everyone - keep your wits about you when dealing with these Indian scammers!

Got a call from some bloke claiming my internet had been hacked and that BT were shutting it down right away. When I asked for a number to ring back, he gave me 0203 290 0836. He sounded pretty chill, but since my internet isn't even with BT, it's clearly a scam.

Received a robo call claiming my internet was hacked and they needed to check something. The guy said his name was Peter Smith and gave me a London phone number. When I rang it back, it seemed really dodgy - no response and dead silence. I ended the call on my landline, but that bloke kept calling me 3 or 4 more times. Seriously, what’s going on?!

Got a recorded call claiming to be from Ofcom warning me my internet would be cut off. I didn’t bother to listen all the way through since it felt dodgy, so I looked up the number here first. Good thing I did! Just ignore it and hang up. The number that popped up on my phone was 0208 803 8115.

I got a robocall claiming to be from OFCOM saying my internet was gonna be cut off within a day because some IP address got hacked. It asked me to press 1 to get through to BT. When I did, a guy came on and said someone in California broke into the system and asked if I could use a computer to help set up some security stuff. It felt dodgy, so I searched the number here and sure enough, it was a scam!

Cheers for posting these warnings. I nearly got duped by a call claiming to be from Ofcom saying my internet was hacked and would be cut off. I was about to let them in to my PC, but something made me check the number on Google first, and then I found all these alerts from people like you!

Had a call from someone claiming to be "Robert Smith" from BT's main office in London, but the bloke had a strong Asian accent. They called from a local STD code I know and said my internet would be cut off in a day if I didn’t let them remote into my PC. Bit sus, right? I checked the number here and it’s clearly dodgy. Honestly, there should be more laws cracking down on these cons and tracking down who’s behind them. 27 calls so far! Come on, Ofcom, you need to get tough - sort it out and start fining these scammers.

At about 2.15pm, I got a call from someone named Alex Wilson claiming to be from BT’s Investigation Department. He said my internet had been hacked from somewhere in the US and said I had to let him access my connection so he could help fix it right away. I told him I needed to verify the claim first, so he gave me a number to phone back on - 02032900836 - saying it was BT’s official Investigation Team and they’d confirm his identity. I looked up the number online and found loads of reports warning it’s a scam. - caller: 02032900836

I got a robo call from someone claiming to be from *bt* saying my internet was in danger and would be cut off in a day. I tried their alternative service option, and then a guy with an Asian accent, calling himself Roy, wanted to get into my MacBook. When I asked him to prove he was truly from Ofcom's investigations, he gave me a number. Luckily, I searched that number online before doing anything!

Got a call from this number warning me that my internet got hacked and that BT were about to cut off my service. The guy's accent was pretty hard to catch, so I told him I’d call back later. Then it hit me, it’s a scam because he wanted me to get on my computer. Be cautious with this one!

I received a voicemail saying there was an issue with my internet connection and to press one to be connected to BT. When I pressed, a person named Alex William picked up and started asking me to open my computer to check a few things. It didn’t feel right, so I asked for a number to ring back instead. Later, I looked up that number and quickly realised it was a scam. Fingers crossed that call didn’t end up costing me a fortune.

I got a call from 02032900836 today. The guy, calling himself Alex William, spoke with a strong foreign accent and claimed he was from BT. He asked me to switch on my computer so he could run some checks. It sounded fishy, especially since I’m not even a BT customer, so I just hung up. Be careful folks!

I got a call from a woman who said she needed to check if our internet on the computer was safe. She wanted me to stand by the PC and said she’d guide me through some steps. It turned out to be one of those hacking scams. My mum didn’t know what was going on and handed me the phone. When I asked for a callback number, she gave me one - which I reckon will be a really pricey number to ring back.
