I had a rather alarming notice pop up on my laptop, claiming there was a virus, instructing me not to close the window and to urgently contact Microsoft at 08081081017269. When I did, an operator informed me that my computer was running extremely slowly because it was under attack from 1089 trogons, whatever that might be! He insisted I needed to purchase something called Microsoft's supermodel innovation software for complete protection. To top it off, he mentioned that a technician could remotely access my device to resolve the issue for a fee of £120. I found the whole situation a bit dodgy, especially when he suggested an alternative payment method via 'pay safe'. He even promised to ring me back once I got a voucher. He provided me with another number, 02032900623, but instinctively I felt something was off, so I did some digging and discovered this post. I avoided answering his call altogether.

I took the plunge and gave them a ring after a rather dodgy pop-up appeared on my laptop claiming they could help. They tout themselves as computer repair specialists and offer some sort of security software on a pricing scheme. Strangely enough, they’ve got an address in the UK, specifically Suite -188, Empire House, 1 Empire Way, Wembley, HA9 0EW, despite operating out of India. The technician I spoke to was named James Ross. Honestly, I’d steer clear of these folks if I were you!

I've heard whispers that this phone number is linked to dubious characters posing as representatives from big names like Microsoft or Google, or even internet providers like TalkTalk or AOL. They’ll ring you up, spouting nonsense about how your computer is supposedly riddled with infections, and then they’ll sweet-talk you into letting them ‘fix’ it remotely. It’s all a ruse! They demand outrageous fees for hardly any service, clutter your head with their tech jargon, and have the gall to act as though you’ve narrowly avoided disaster, all when your computer is perfectly fine!
