I got a message that sounded really official about some legal action against me and to call Hmrc at 020 3290 0016. It didn’t have my name or any specific info though. Definitely some kind of scam, so I just shrugged it off and carried on with my day without giving it a second thought.

Got a couple of calls claiming to be from HMRC, one was from this number and the other from 1273931005. They told me there’s a serious legal case against me, didn’t even mention my name, just said it’s going straight for execution. They sounded really serious at first and it was proper stressful, but then they finished the call with ‘you are blessed’ which felt odd. We’ve not had any official letters or anything, so I’m pretty sure it’s a scam.

My mum, who is 86, got a phone call from 02032900016. The person claimed to be the police and told her someone had complained about her. She hung up straight away but it really shook her up. She contacted BT and they suggested she use call protect and privacy services. I just wish they'd told her they could block that number from calling her again.

Just had a call from 02032900016 and honestly, it was pretty unsettling. I reckon if someone not so tech-savvy got that call, they'd probably panic and maybe even call the number back. Seems like a trick to get your bank info or personal stuff. This kinda thing is definitely getting out of hand.

I just rang the number but no answer.

Got a robotic message claiming to be from the police saying I was under arrest over some HMRC issue. They rattled off a case number fast and insisted I call them back, which I did, using the 1471 check right after. Completely absurd and obviously some dodgy scam. They really ought to be locked up. It’s disgusting how they target people who might be more easily fooled. Real cops don’t just arrest anyone who answers their phone like that.

Got a robo call claiming to be the police, saying I was being arrested over HMRC stuff. They rattled off some case number and warned me not to ignore it, telling me to ring back. I checked the number straight away with a 1471 look-up and it was the same one. Totally ridiculous and I reckon it’s a scam, probably illegal too. These fraudsters absolutely should be locked up quick. They’re just targeting people who might be easy to scare. Real police wouldn’t just arrest someone by ringing them out of the blue like that.

I got the exact same recorded voicemail about a warrant for my arrest, apparently because of some issue with HMRC. It told me to ring them back about it. Sounds like a scam to me.

Got a recorded message from someone pretending to be the police saying there’s a warrant out for me because of HMRC - who do they think they’re fooling??? At least they used the right name this time, unlike the last call I got where they said ‘Inland Revenue.’ Come on, it’s not called that anymore! Honestly, these scams are really dangerous, especially for vulnerable people. DO NOT RING THE NUMBER BACK - just end the call!

Absolute nightmare of a scam this one. Got a recorded message the other day, with a really posh English accent pretending to be from HMRC. They were saying something like "a case has been brought against you, don’t ignore this" - proper panic-inducing stuff that could really scare someone.

Total scam, don’t even bother picking up. I got a call claiming there was some issue with HMRC about me, but as soon as I asked questions, the line went dead. Honestly, I can't cope anymore! That's it, I'm throwing in the towel - someone just lock me up already, I could really do with a break. Got two hyperactive kids running around and the missus blowing every penny I earn on "essential" designer handbags. Here I am, stuck at home with no milk for my tea, and then the phone rings.

Got a call from someone claiming to be "The Police" telling me HMRC have issued a warrant for my arrest and I’d better ring them back and settle a fine ASAP or else. After 22 years working alongside the local police myself, I know for a fact they don’t pass on messages for HMRC like that - they can handle their own business without needing to bother people by phone. Absolute nonsense and just a total waste of everyone’s time using our phones this way!
