I got a minor scratch on my vehicle, and this guy called, claiming he was from a compensation group. He told me they already had all my info from my insurer for a whiplash claim. He sounded pretty annoyed when I kept insisting I wasn’t hurt and wasn’t planning on filing anything.

This was the initial message left on my answering machine when I got back from my holiday. They must be ringing numbers randomly because I’m ex directory. I foolishly did call the number (maybe I was a bit jet lagged), but got a message saying it wasn’t accepting calls and to ring back later.

I can't stress enough how important it is to take heed when encountering this number-sounds like they're sporting an American accent, but don't be fooled; it's nothing more than a dodgy scam.

I've just returned from a lovely break only to discover a rather alarming message suggesting I was under investigation for fraud by HMRC. As a pensioner living on a tight budget, it did give me quite a bit of concern. I attempted to return the call, but received a recorded message stating that this number isn’t taking calls and to attempt again later. I’m on the ex-directory list, so if it’s legitimate, they could simply drop me a letter instead of this nonsense! Definitely sounds like a scam to me!

What a complete and utter scam! This number is definitely dodgy.

Received a rather dodgy call claiming to be from HMRC - typical of those scams people have been mentioning. The voice had a bit of an American twang, urging me to urgently contact them regarding some supposed 'tax evasion' issue. I've made sure to pass this on to my local Community Centre so they can spread the word, especially for the more vulnerable folks like myself. It's truly distressing that such calls can occur. Whatever you do, steer clear of this number! I'm grateful for websites that share details about these frauds-very helpful indeed.

Precisely like what others have mentioned-this chap, speaking with an American twang, left a voicemail on my mother’s phone, who is quite advanced in years. He claimed there was a legal matter involving her and HM Revenue and Customs, insisting she must ring back right away. I took it upon myself to ensure she didn’t engage with this nonsense!

Just had a rather peculiar phone conversation with an automated voice, sounding distinctly American. The chap on the line claimed to be from HMRC, blathering on about some legal issue and instructed me to ring 02032899210. Curiosity got the better of me, so I did a quick internet search and, lo and behold, it's been flagged as a scam! Cheers for the heads-up!

Just like everyone else is saying, got a recorded voice saying it was HMRC and that there was a complaint about me. Told me to call back but I ignored it. Definitely a scam. Best thing is to just hang up and dont bother calling back. If it was actually HMRC, they’d send a letter or come after you properly!

That accent is a dead giveaway-definitely a dodgy scheme. If HMRC really suspected I was evading my taxes, wouldn’t they send me a proper letter beforehand? Seems a bit off, doesn’t it?

I received a voicemail, similar to many I've heard before, indicating that I urgently needed to contact this number as it was HMRC. Upon calling back, I was greeted by a woman with an American accent who inquired about my name. Then, rather dramatically, she informed me that there was a warrant for my arrest! Naturally, I was taken aback and asked what the charges were. She claimed it was for tax evasion and for unlawfully claiming benefits. I promptly told her that I had never claimed benefits in my entire life and questioned whether this was genuinely HMRC or some kind of scam. At that point, she abruptly hung up on me!

I recently received a rather alarming voicemail from what sounded like a robotic voice urging me to ring back without delay. Given that I’ve just been hit with an unexpected tax bill, I must admit it sent me into a bit of a tailspin, fearing there might be another issue on the horizon. However, I decided to check this site beforehand, and I’m relieved to discover it’s all a load of nonsense. What a relief to know it’s just a scam!

This morning at precisely 10:00, I got a rather unsettling call. They left a voicemail insisting I contact HMRC and warned against dismissing their message. The delivery was quite menacing and had an artificial feel to it. Recognising it as a scam, I promptly blocked the number. If you happen to receive a similar call from this fraudster, I'd highly recommend you do the same and refrain from returning the call!

I received a rather concerning voicemail from this number, which claimed that either I or my solicitor should immediately get in touch with the HMRC courthouse and not to disregard the message. The voice was quite robotic and had an American twang to it. Upon seeing the number through 1471, I decided against calling back, as I suspected it might be a scam. After doing some research here, I appreciate the contributions from others who have shared their experiences. It’s clear that this is a scam of sorts. Just yesterday (16th October 2017), I received a rather alarming text on my mobile, claiming that I was under investigation for tax evasion. It provided a number to ring back, supposedly for HMRC’s main office. The message warned me not to disregard it and to return the call straight away. So, I decided to ring the number this morning, only to find that the individual on the other end couldn’t clarify which particular tax I was supposedly dodging. When I insisted on receiving a formal letter detailing the exact charges against me, they simply hung up. Quite the dodgy operation, if you ask me!

Got a call from 020 3289 9210 this morning at about 9. It was one of those recorded messages, with a robotic voice claiming I, or my solicitor, had to urgently get in touch with them about tax evasion, pretending they were from HMRC. I wasn’t convinced for a second - HMRC don’t contact you in that way and I’m definitely not dodging tax. I looked up the number and saw it was linked to dodgy scams. I ended up reporting it to Action Fraud (the police).

Today, the landline rang-something we rarely have to deal with-and the voice on the other end insisted that either we or our solicitor needed to get in touch with them. Got a call this morning around 8.45am from an automated voice that sounded American. It was about me or my solicitor needing to get in touch regarding tax evasion or something like that. Kept repeating the number and saying not to ignore the call. Mentioned H.M.R.C and said it was urgent. I came here right away cos my first thought was that it’s a scam. I can totally see how people who are more vulnerable could easily get frightened by this. There really should be proper measures to stop these annoying calls. TPS and call blocking don’t seem to do anything.

I received a rather alarming message claiming there’s a legal issue registered under my name at the HM Tribunal and Courts House. They provided a number for the HMEC headquarters and stressed the importance of returning the call without delay. I must say, I’m grateful for this number verification service, as it allowed me to investigate further. It's quite obvious that the HM Tribunal and HMRC are not linked in any way, and I certainly haven't lodged any complaints myself. It's a bit concerning to think how many people might get frightened by such a call. To add to the peculiarity, the voice on the recording was American, which is just plain odd!

Today, my mother, who is quite elderly, received a call from this number dated 12/10/17. The caller didn’t identify themselves but claimed to be from HMRC, alleging tax evasion. Strangely, they didn’t even know her name and failed to provide their own, which immediately raised alarm bells. It seemed like they were just trying to extract information without any basis. When my mother simply greeted them without engaging further, they abruptly ended the call. This incident has understandably left her feeling quite anxious, especially since, like many others of her generation, she isn't equipped to verify suspicious numbers online. I decided to ring back the number that appeared on my mobile, and the individual I conversed with seemed to have either an Indian or Pakistani accent. However, to my surprise, the message on my voicemail was distinctly American. This is certainly a scam without any question.

Just after 11:30, I got the same call as earlier today from this number. A man with an Asian or Indian accent said there was a claim made in my name (didn't say which name). He talked about telling my lawyer and warned me not to ignore the call, which felt a bit threatening. Even though I have no tax problems, it did make me feel uneasy for a moment. I can only think how upsetting this could be for older folks or someone vulnerable living by themselves.

I got a call around 11:40 this morning, just like loads of others here. It was one of those recorded messages claiming I’m in trouble for tax evasion or something. Really relieved to see it’s a scam because getting a threat about court stuff like that is pretty frightening.

11/10/2017 They’re still calling - this time with an American accent. I really wanted to ring back and tell them off, but in the end, I didn’t bother.

Got a call from this number today, total scam for sure. They use a robot voice with an American accent, probably to dodge voice ID or whatever. Don’t get fooled or stressed out by these idiots, and seriously, don’t bother calling them back.

I received a voicemail from this number, but didn't bother to return the call. The chap on the line had a rather thick foreign accent that made it quite challenging to comprehend what he was saying. It definitely raised some red flags for me right away!

I got an automated phone call this morning around 8.43am claiming to be from HM Revenue and Customs, saying I need to get a lawyer because I’m accused of dodging tax and to ring them straight away. I know I have no tax issues, so it really annoyed me. I looked up the number here and loads of others have had the same call. It’s worrying because this could really upset vulnerable people. Is there anything that can be done about these scam calls?

My 80 year old dad got a call from 02032899210 and they left a voicemail saying they were from HMRC, telling him he needed a lawyer because he owed back taxes. Luckily, he wasn’t in when they called. He tried ringing back to tell them it was a wrong number. I told him not to engage with them at all. If anyone else gets a call like this, please report it to your local non emergency police or try to submit a complaint online.

Those con artists ought to switch up their accents and steer clear of American lingo. It would help if they tried mentioning the name of someone who lives here! Honestly, I'd love the chance to confront them face to face.

I just got a rather alarming message from this number, threatening me with legal proceedings! When I picked up the phone for the second time, they had already disconnected, and now it seems their line is perpetually busy. Reading through these comments has certainly eased my mind, though I would have been quite anxious for ages if I hadn’t stumbled upon them!

On 9th Oct 2017 at about half one in the afternoon, I got a call saying the same things. This time, it was a bloke with an Irish accent. They mentioned HMRC, tax evasion, a lawyer and so on. Proper scary scam it was.

Got a dodgy call this morning around 8:20, purporting to be from the HMRC Fraud Investigation team. They insisted I ring them back, with a rather alarming "do not ignore" tagged on. It's obviously just some scammer trying their luck. Absolute muppetry!

Got a voicemail on our answering machine this morning around 7.45am from a bloke sounding American or Irish, saying it was about tax evasion to HMRC. Told us not to ignore it and to call back. I had a feeling it was a rip-off so looked it up here. Really hope they do something about these dodgy calls. Tried ringing the tax office but it’s impossible to speak to an actual person there.

This number got in touch with my elderly father, causing him quite a bit of distress. He genuinely feared he had to return the call regarding some supposed tax evasion warrant. At 77 and not in the best of health, this sort of thing can be really overwhelming for him. It's crucial that we put a stop to folks who prey on vulnerable individuals like him.

I recently received a rather alarming call from a chap claiming to be Anthony Cooper. He really laid it on thick, insisting that there was a warrant issued for my arrest. The fellow got rather boisterous, demanding to know why I'd neglected to pay my taxes, all while he was waving around some figures, alleging I had over £5,000 in my account, which he deemed taxable income. Honestly, I couldn’t help but chuckle at his antics, and it wasn’t long before he abruptly hung up on me. It’s quite concerning; he really ought to be brought to heel. Can you imagine the panic this sort of nonsense could cause?

Got a call this morning at about 9.45. Didn’t recognise the number so I just let the voicemail take it. A man with an American accent said he was from HMRC and mentioned I was under investigation for tax fraud and evasion. Seems like a total scam to me, so I deleted the message straight away. Still, it sounds pretty intimidating with all the talk about lawyers - I can imagine some folks might freak out and ring back.

My wife answered the phone, and she went into a bit of a fluster! The caller claimed there was a tax evasion matter on file and that an arrest warrant had been issued. They told her I hadn't paid my taxes for the past two years - that was a real giveaway!

This morning my 96 year old mum got a message on her answerphone saying it was HM Customs and she owed income tax. They told her to ring 02032988210. I called and spoke to a bloke who said his name was Anthony Cooper, sounded like he had an Indian accent. When I asked what it was about, he said she owed income tax and was defrauding the UK government. I asked where he was based and he said 100 Whitehall. I told him I was just down the road and would pop round, then the line went dead. I tried calling back several times but no answer. It’s obvious this is a scam aimed at old people.

These sorts of calls really ought to be put to an end.
