Got a message saying my laptop’s Windows had been blocked because of some dodgy activity. It told me to call a number. I couldn’t do anything on my laptop, so I just held the power button down for like 10 seconds to shut it off. Turned it back on and it seemed fine. Tried calling the number but got an Indian voice, so I hung up straight away. Then I got like 10 calls back in the next five minutes. Definitely a scam.

Got a message from 02032896008 but it came through as an email which was a bit worrying. Didn’t fancy calling it as I figured it was probably a scam. The text sounded quite convincing though, must say these types need to be stopped and dealt with properly!

I received a rather troubling call claiming my computer was riddled with viruses, and they demanded £99.99 to rectify the issue. However, when I explained I simply couldn't pay that amount, they locked me out of my device entirely. Now, my computer won't even switch on without some sort of password from them. Is this even lawful? I'm at a loss and genuinely unsure of my next steps, as I'm completely unable to use my computer.

Just like loads of others, I kept him hanging while I looked up the number. The moment I mentioned I was checking, he just dropped the call.

so some guy named paul called me, sounded really indian, said he was from microsoft tech support. he told me my pc was full of malware and asked me to check it out. supposed to help me fix it but honestly, felt like a total scam. not falling for it!

They somehow get access to your computer and then hit you with a bill ranging from £105 up to £250 just for sorting out problems that aren’t even real. It’s a total scam.
