I received a call earlier from someone named Michael Matthews on 01156 920052 saying I was owed a few thousand quid because my bank had charged me too much before. He asked for my date of birth and which bank I use. I gave him a made-up DOB, which he didn’t seem to question, and I ended the call straight away knowing it was a scam.

Got a call from someone named Michael at Claims Advisory on 07753674658 saying they’ve got a cheque for me - £3,649 from a recent PPI claim. He said they’d send an agent to my house with the cheque and would check my ID, but first I need to ring 02070978812, the accounts dept, to sort a time. Thing is, I never made any PPI claim, and the bloke struggled to speak proper English. This is definitely a scam, so watch out and don’t fall for it!

Received a call saying I was owed a refund from the Government. They got quite annoyed when I asked them to send it in writing. They already had my name and address but asked for my DOB, then claimed it wasn’t personal info.

A bloke called James Atkins rang me, said he was with the UK Claims Advisory Group in Manchester (number 01506674786). He pretty much repeated what others have said, about a cheque around £1200 for bank overcharges and interest. He actually knew my name and asked for my dob. He said "someone" will call back to confirm my details. The cheque ref he gave is 99007003 for when I get the next call. Total SCAM, be careful.

Looks like James has been swamped with calls lately. I got a similar call from UK Claims Advisory Group, based in Manchester. They wanted me to verify my name, birthdate, and which bank I use. They said there’s about £1,200 owed in repayment for bank charges from like 20 years ago, and mentioned a cheque reference number 99007003. The caller said someone would ring back tomorrow within a particular time slot, but I can’t quite recall what time exactly. The next caller will apparently double-check our info. 🤔😂

Just got a call from this bloke named James, number 01156920052, said he was with some UK Claims Advisory Group in Manchester. Knew loads about me, even my DOB. He had a thick accent and said someone would ring me again after asking which bank I’d like to put a cheque into. Seemed dodgy to me, felt like a scam.

Today, I recieved a call from 07234530215, some bloke who said he was George Jacob from some claims advisory thing. He claimed there was a cheque ready for me, but first I had to pop by the supermarket and put £150 onto a Paysafe card. Supposedly, after that, they’d bring the cheque straight to my house; all they needed was my ID. They said they were close by and would ring me again. I’m pretty sure this is a con.

This number 020734144061 rang me earlier. The person claimed to be from some Claims Advisory Department based in Manchester, said it was a kind of semi-government body, and that I'd been charged too much by my bank and was due a cheque sent to my home. They kept trying to verify my address but messed up the house number twice. I didn’t confirm any details and told them I’d look it up myself online and would ring them back on their number. Not a great call to get, especially since they knew my name and address, and I had a feeling straight away it was dodgy.

Got a call from James on 01924382323. He had a heavy Asian accent and was rambling about banks charging me too much and some cheque I was supposedly owed. He seemed to know some of my basic info and said his boss would ring me back tomorrow with the amount I’m due. Ended up giving him my dob and bank name. After checking this site, it’s obvious it’s a scam. Definitely gonna let “James” know exactly what I think!

Just got a ring from some guy named James claiming he’s with the U.K. Government Advisory Group, but sounded like total rubbish! The call came from 01792 654651. I’m an 85 year old up here in Tayside, Scotland, and I’m still sharp as a tack, thank you very much. Watch out folks, this is definitely a scam!

Today, 03-12-19, I got a call from someone claiming to be the Government Advisory Payment Group in Manchester. They said there’s money held by banks from overcharges in the last 20 years, and that a solicitor named Mr Alex Robinson would give me a cheque of £3600 in a few hours if I paid £400 in Amazon gift cards, which they said was 11% of the cheque. I went downstairs to check out their details and after reading the comments here, I felt better about my suspicions. This time of year is really risky. Stay safe everyone!

Got a call this morning from a bloke named Michael White claiming he’s with some advisory group in Manchester, saying he’s sending me a cheque for PPI. His English was awful, barely understandable - total scam. He rang my number 01689 876011. I’ve blocked him now but they keep calling from loads of different numbers.

Just got a call from 01618186663 saying my PPI claim from a while back went through and I’m due £4288. They even gave me a cheque number and said a solicitor would pop round to my house to hand over the cash. They asked for ID proof, and said the solicitor was coming all the way from London. Honestly, that’s just made me certain it’s a SCAM - I live in Wales and they're supposed to be here in an hour? Nonsense.

Got a call from a Michael White with a noticeable Asian accent, saying a cheque would be arriving soon and that I should head to Morrissons to buy a £200 gift card. He said he’d ring me back and then mention the police. Claimed he was from some claims advisory group in Manchester. The number he called from was 0148 4845880. He even asked if I had a mobile number, which I said I didn’t, and told me to have ID ready to show whoever came to the door. Just a heads up, these scams are blatant rubbish - don’t get caught out by them.

THE GUY SAID HIS NAME WAS PAUL SMITH AND CLAIMED I’VE GOT A CHEQUE FOR £3,600 ON THE WAY. HE SAID SOMEONE WOULD DROP BY AT 4 THIS AFTERNOON TO SORT IT OUT. WHEN I MENTIONED THAT MY SON AND DAUGHTER ARE COP, HE SOUNDED A BIT UNEASY AND SAID THEY DIDN’T NEED TO BE PRESENT. THEN HE ASKED ME TO PAY HIM £201 TO RELEASE THE CHEQUE. HE SAID HE’D CALL BACK AT 4 TO GET MY DECISION, WHICH I’LL PROBABLY RESPOND TO WITH A FEW CHOICE WORDS!

Jack Bernard Uk C says Advisory Group rang me up at around 5pm on Sat 19 Oct 2019, saying id been selected to get some cash from Santander back payments. They gave me a Government Unique Number, then another bloke called Richard phoned about 10 mins later, saying someone would call me on Tuesday to let me know how much I’m owed and when I’d get the money. They told me all I needed was photo ID to confirm my identity. The call came from 01624551155 which I reckon is a scam, so watch out.

Had the same thing happen with James ringing up saying I was due money back for some bank fees that were supposed to be refunded. I told him that if that was legit, the money would be coming directly from the bank, not them. He seemed a bit lost and then handed me over to his "manager." That bloke didn't really get my question either, just told me a cheque would be sent to my bank after I got a call from their finance team. Sounded fishy as anything, so I ended the call and blocked the number straight away. The number was 01642 84015.

I had a couple of calls like that today. I asked if it was some kind of scam and both times they claimed it was all legit. Each call came from a different number. Honestly, I wouldn’t pick up any calls from unknown numbers these days, too many dodgy ones about. I’ve blocked those numbers now, fingers crossed there’s no trouble coming from them.

Got a call from James, 01724862086, asking for my name, date of birth and what bank i use. I rang my bank straight after to warn them. They said i’d be getting a cheque posted for £1200.00 and that his manager would call me back in a couple of hours. Total con, don’t share any of your info with these people.

Some guy called Kevin gee said someone would ring me tomorrow about a cheque. Then an Asian woman phoned saying the cheque was for £3450, but I told her it was a scam. She also said someone would bring the cheque to me in 2 hours.

claims advisory group or sumone like that, with a guy called michiial mathews phoned my husband. He said theres a £3000 cheque waiting for him. Then they told him to head to Morrisons and get an Amazon gift card and put £200 on it so the cheque would be sent. They said a bloke named aLEX ROBINSON would deliver it. Luckily my husband told them he couldnt afford putting money on the card. So of course, no one turned up with the cheque. When my husband told me, I knew straight away it was a scam.

They've got a cheque for £4,350 for me but told me I have to take out a new life insurance policy first, even tho I don't really need one. They gave me that number and said to ring them before 6pm if I want to proceed, after I've done some checking on them.

Got a call from some claims advisory team earlier today. They said they’re cooperating with the Ministry of Justice and promised a cheque worth about £2,500 should arrive within 3 days. They even knew my full name and address!! They gave me a reference number and the name of the bloke, Kevin Gee. They said someone will ring back to confirm my identity with some more info??? Got a call on Friday from 01507313451 and then again today from 02141689817157. It’s definitely a scam. They claimed to be from some claims advisory group and wanted me to buy £300 worth of iTunes vouchers to 'show I could pay' for their help with a successful £3600 claim from my bank. I knew it was dodgy since I’ve already sorted my claim and got the money. I just played along. They said their lawyer was Grantham Robinson - others have mentioned that name too. Watch out, these numbers are dodgy!

Got a call from 00141223872931, bloke had an Asian accent and said he was calling from Claims Advisory at Adamson House, Pomona Street, Manchester M16 0DD. He claimed they wanted to send me a cheque for some bank overcharging, asked for my bank name before giving me a reference number. I told him it wasn't necessary and hung up. Found the number by using 1471.

Got a call from 01402656585 earlier, some asian woman saying I had a payment due and asking for personal info like my dob, full name and address to confirm. I told her it sounded like a scam and if not to send something in writing. Then I hung up, but a couple mins later I got another call from a different asian lady. When I asked who she was with, she said ‘Advisory Group’ in Manchester.

Yesterday I got a call from someone called Tony Holland claiming to be from the UK Advisory Group. He said I'd be getting a cheque back for bank charges from the past ten years. He asked me to jot down a reference number after confirming which bank I used, plus details about a loan and a mortgage. He also wanted me to verify my name and postcode, and said his supervisor would call me today at 2.30. I gave him a fake birthday though. I'm pretty sure this is a dodgy scam, so I’ve let my bank and the police know, and now I’m nervously waiting for the follow-up call.

Got a ring from someone called Caroline claiming to be from the UK Advisory Group - number 01454 412399. She said I’m due a cheque from the Government as a refund for wrongly charged bank fees. She asked me for some personal info to confirm, which I gave but none of it was correct. Apparently, now the Financial Manager will be in touch to confirm the amount I’m meant to get. Looking forward to that call, if it ever comes through!

Just got a call from someone called Brandon (quite a common Asian name) claiming to be from Claims Advice Group. He said they’re a branch of the ombudsman service and that I’ve got a government cheque waiting. But before I get it, I need to pay £200 in Tesco iTunes vouchers as some sort of VAT fee. Thought the government needed cash, but never guessed they'd be asking for iTunes cards! Seems dodgy to me, probably a scam! The number was 02037460225.

Got a call today that sounded just like the ones described here, with some Asian person yabbering on about a cheque being sent or whatever. I took it to the police station and the officer at the counter told me straight it’s a scam. Thing is, the number they used wasn’t one listed on your site, it was 01248354677. Maybe they’re switching their numbers around. Hope this bit of info helps you out.

Got a call from a Harry Hill at “Claims Advisory Group” in Manchester, number 0161 345 9887. He claimed he was working with the Government and said I had PPI to claim back. Asked for my address and date of birth, but I told him I don’t just hand out personal info to unknown callers. He kept pushing and said I’d get a check within a few days. When I asked for his workplace details, he gave the same info as above. But when I said I’d call him back, he just hung up on me.

So I got a call recently saying I was owed £3600 and had to pay £280 today, then a guy would come round with a cheque for the £3600. They told me to send the £280 by MoneyGram and a man would drop off the cheque at my house. I didn’t give out any bank details though. I told them I didn’t have any money right now and couldn’t send the £280 today. The bloke just said “ok, call me back when you can” and hung up. Felt kinda off since there was no paperwork or anything official. Just be cautious if you get calls like that!

Got three calls today, first one from some Adam Smith (seems dodgy) claiming I’m owed money from my bank and they’d send me a cheque. They asked for my DOB and bank details, so like others I gave them rubbish info and a bank I’ve never dealt with. Weirdly, they verified it! Then they asked if I could go to the bank alone or needed help. The second call was just to confirm the first one, and the third was to confirm both previous calls and to say I’d get a final call Monday at 10am with the exact amount I’m owed. Can’t wait for that, yeah right.

They just said the same thing to me, that they’re sending some money I’m owed. I was daft and gave them my date of birth and bank name. I’ve just contacted my bank to let them know. Should be okay as long as you didn’t give out your account numbers. I don’t get why they're even trying this if you don’t hand over your details.

About thirty minutes ago I got a phone call showing as unavailable from an Asian bloke who said his name was Kevin Gee (not sure I buy that!), claiming to be from Claims Advisory Group at the Ministry of Justice. He told me I was owed money from my bank. Then he asked if I could get to a bank. I asked why, and he said he was just checking if I had any disability and if I could make it to the bank. Never had that question before. Next, he said he had a cheque reference number for me to jot down and that a colleague would call me on Monday with the amount I was supposed to get. Weird stuff!

About ten minutes ago, I got a call from someone overseas claiming I had some money to claim, and that another call would confirm it in half an hour. It seemed odd since I went through a similar thing with my bank like three years back and nothing ever came of it.

I also got one of those calls claiming to be from some claims company. They mentioned a few names - Adam Taylor, some bloke called Michael, and a government official going by Graham Robinson. He said he’d send me a cheque for £3600, but I had to send a money gram of £350 first. Gave me a number too, 02036300392. Tried checking if it was legit but couldn't find anything. I told him to forget it as I wasn’t comfortable, and he got pretty rude. Feels like I dodged a bullet there. The police really need to crack down on these scammers.

I got a call from someone saying he was David Martin from Money Advice Service, and he knew my name, address, even my DOB. He said stuff similar to what others here have mentioned. He asked if I was disabled and said his Director would ring me tomorrow, telling me not to leave the house. I'm honestly worried, especially since I live by myself and was scammed out of £300 just before Christmas with pretty much the same kind of con. Why aren’t these people shut down and put behind bars? It’s ridiculous.

Called by 01482 676876 saying it was some Claims Advisory Service, same spiel as described. I told the guy I wasn’t buying it and was about to end the call. I put the phone down but he rang back right away and told me to 'shut up' when I called it a scam. I ended the call again. He tried one more time. I never got to the money part as it all felt off, honestly glad I looked it up here first.

Got a call from some bloke called Stephen (00148267687) supposedly from UK Claims Advisory Group, saying I was due money back from my bank and there was a cheque ready from the government. He mentioned a colleague would ring me soon to confirm the amount. Then he asked if I was disabled and if I could get to a bank on my own - sound of alarm bells ringing! I ended the call. Ten minutes later, another call from (02033152584) asking if I’d talked to Stephen. I asked a few questions and he said his boss would call me tomorrow with all the info. Honestly don’t trust it one bit.

Got a call today from 07738 885961 on 01/12/16. The guy said he was from the UK and claimed I had a credit card I’d fully paid off before, saying I was owed £1246 in PPI compensation. I asked what company he was with, and he just kept saying “UK.” When I pressed for the actual firm, he muttered something about a PPI Claims company. Then he tried to get me to confirm if I’d had a card with a specific bank. I wouldn’t answer, and he called me an idiot and hung up. Male voice, African accent. Watch out!

This morning I got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent saying he was from the Claims Advisory Service, supposedly ringing 'on behalf of the UK government'. Pretty clear scam right away, but I asked which branch of the government he was with. That seemed to throw him off, he kept going on about being from a private finance firm authorised by the UK government. I told him that being authorised doesn’t mean the same thing as calling 'on behalf of'. I managed to keep him chatting for nearly two minutes before he hung up, which is two minutes less he’ll have to bother vulnerable folks.

Got a call from a woman with an Asian accent saying she was calling from the U.K. Claims Advisory Group. She told me there was a cheque for £3600 ready for me, but first I had to pay £360 through Money Gram at the post office, then ring 01617681298. She said after that she'd get the solicitor to bring the cheque since he was nearby. When I told her I didn’t have £360 to spare, she sounded surprised and said I should have it. I asked why that was necessary and she just said they’d call back later before hanging up. Totally a scam, be careful!!!

Got a call yesterday from 0014826768, it was a lady with an Indian accent, then shortly after another one from an Indian gentleman. This morning, another bloke with the same background phoned and said they’d be sending a cheque for £3600 today. Would be amazing if that was legit, but sadly I’m pretty sure it’s all a scam.

Got a call from a guy who sounded Indian and his English was pretty bad. He told me I was due a refund for some bank fees and said they’d send me a cheque. Then he started asking which bank I’d use to cash it, and said his Finance Manager would ring me later to sort out the details. Something felt dodgy so I ended the call. Then Jonathan phoned again, trying to arrange when this Finance Manager could call... all just some admin stuff, yeah right! Total scam!

So this guy John Wilson claims he'll refund me for two decades worth of secret bank fees. His so-called financial advisor said they'd call me in a couple of hours. Then I was told there'd be another call on Monday to confirm when the cheque would show up. Honestly, it's all a con - he even asked if I was disabled or used a scooter!

So this bloke called John Wilson reckons he’s gonna sort out two decades worth of bank fees I never knew about. He said some “advisory guy” will call me in a couple of hours. Then, I’m meant to get another call Monday on when the cheque will show up. Total scam, no doubt - he even asked if I’m disabled and use a scooter. Seems dodgy as hell.

I got a call from 01723682238 from someone claiming to be Judith or Denis Clark from some Advisory Service. They said I’m owed around £3-4,000 for bank charges over the past 20 years because the government now says those fees were illegal. They want me to pay 10% of the amount as a fee and said they’d ring back in 24 hours. I’m not answering their calls anymore. Had a chat with my son, who’s an accountant and knows all about this stuff, and he reckons it’s definitely a scam.

Got a call from 01723682238 saying it was from some Advisory Service, with a woman called Judith and then a bloke Denis Clark from Quality Control. They reckon I’m due about £3-400 in bank fees from the past two decades, saying the Government now thinks those fees were unlawful. They want me to pay 10% of the total amount upfront and said they’ll ring back within a day. I’m not planning on answering again. Asked my son about it - he’s an accountant and manages money stuff regularly - and he’s sure it’s a dodgy scam.

My elderly parents got a call from a guy with an Indian accent, and then next day, another call came from someone named Alex Robinson. Both wanted them to send £300 through MoneyGram first, promising a cheque back for supposed illegal bank fees. They kept pushing for personal info, even bank details. These people are just scammers harassing vulnerable folks. Already reported it to the police.

Got a phone call from a bloke with an accent I couldn’t place, asking straight up for my name. When I didn’t give it, he got pretty hostile. Funny thing is, he rang last week too, and I actually told him my name and dob (not my brightest moment, I admit). He promised to send a cheque to cover some bank fees or whatever! I told him to go ahead and send it then. Now here he is again today, ringing back asking for more details!

I received a call from someone named Ryan Harris, and they sounded of Asian descent. They claimed I was due a refund for bank charges, referencing AW 258 and representing the UK Advisory Group on behalf of the Ministry of Justice. However, after doing a bit of research on their claims, I discovered that this is actually a scam. It’s quite worrying how these fraudulent calls seem to be on the rise these days!

My partner got a phone call from a bloke who said his name was Edward Wallace. He claimed to be with the UK government or something called The Money Advisory Group (or at least that's what she thought she heard). He said he already had her information and wanted her to verify some things before sending her money. He was really pushy and rude, which rattled her quite a bit when she wouldn’t share any personal stuff. Does anyone know if there’s a group or agency that deals with scam callers like this, especially those who get intimidating on the phone trying to get your details?

I got a call from a guy who knew my full name, date of birth, and where I live.
