I’m currently attempting to get into my broadband account. I’m dealing with a customer service representative from BT, and they’re based in India.

That assessment is incredibly helpful! They’re quite the crafty con artists, armed with a wealth of knowledge..... and seem to have insights into your ISP, among other things.

Furthermore, they spew a load of nonsense about what those Californian criminals are supposedly doing to our accounts!

Best to just hang up!

Today, I had a phone call from someone who seemed rather credible, but alas, they’re nothing but fraudsters. If they're associated with TeamViewer, steer clear! There was an Indian woman on the line claiming to be Tracy Smith, sporting a BT ID of BT 2481. They’ll try to persuade you to install a link on your computer. Trust me, they’re after remote access to take over your machine.

Received a call yet again from that same BT scam involving a hacked account.

I received a rather peculiar phone call on Friday, 14th July 2017. It was a chap with a strong Indian accent claiming to be from BT, alerting me that someone in California was attempting to breach my broadband connection. I must admit, it was quite tricky to decipher what he was saying due to the accent. He inquired about the devices I used to access the internet and the social media platforms I frequented, along with my typical online activities like emailing and shopping. I felt a bit uneasy about his authenticity and, not having the time to boot up my laptop-which I usually turn off when not in use-I asked him to ring me again on the following Monday morning. True to his word, he called back, but I chose not to pick up. He attempted to reach me four separate times. After the fact, I dialed 1471 to check the number. I’m grateful to others who have affirmed my suspicions that this was indeed a scam.

Attempted to dupe my mum. Chaps with an Asian (Indian) accent rang her up, pretending to be from BT. They insisted she had to act quickly to stop a hacker from getting into her internet. Regrettably, they managed to trick her for a bit, but all went awry when they inquired about her bank balance. Utterly despicable!
