I've been getting numerous calls from this number, yet they never bother to leave a voicemail.

I've just received yet another scam call masquerading as HMRC. It's getting tiresome.

I received a rather distressing phone call from someone claiming to be an HMRC official. They insisted that unless I paid my alleged tax dues immediately, they would show up at my front door to arrest me. Quite frankly, I highly doubt that HMRC holds the power to arrest people like that. It’s clearly a scam!

Just ask a couple of questions and you'll see straight away. The callers from overseas call centres have no clue about how things work in the UK or the customs here. It ends up being a total mess and pretty clearly a scam.

1. If someone says there's a warrant out for your arrest, it's a con. 2. Claims about tax returns not being submitted? Also a scam. 3. They give you just two choices: a) appear in court and risk losing £30,000 or b) cough up £1400 as bond money - total rip off. 4. They'll even threaten that a HMRC agent will show up at your door - don't fall for it. 5. They use intimidation and threats to try and scare you. Stay safe, everyone!

This is definitely a scam, nothing more. Still shocked these people haven’t been locked up yet. Totally fraud, be careful out there!

Got a voicemail pretty much like what others mentioned, saying I have a warrant for my arrest and telling me to ring the number back. Seemed dodgy to me.

What a load of nonsense, scammers everywhere! If there was a warrant for me, I’d definitely have been told by now. I keep every payslip showing my taxes are all paid up. They don’t sound like proper Brits - they clearly don’t know how our tax system runs. It’s not some easy thing like they think. Don’t bother replying to these fraudsters. HMRC would never just leave a voicemail like that. Take care all! :)

Absolutely laughable! These "hmre" folks claim they're going to arrest me. As if anyone would fall for that nonsense!

Just like some folks mentioned before, I got one of those automated calls claiming to be from HMRC. They were saying I’m gonna be arrested because I haven’t paid some tax or whatever. They gave a phone number to ring back. Don’t fall for it, it’s definitely a scam. Honestly, those scammers should be the ones getting arrested for fraud!

It’s honestly so pathetic to think someone’s job could be just leaving annoying messages for people who haven’t done anything wrong. What a pointless way to spend your time!

I've also been tagged for tax, it's a right pain. Are these automated calls just targeting business owners and self-employed folk, or are they ringing up regular people who don’t deal with their own tax returns too? If it’s just the self-assessors, where did they get the phone numbers from? Could it be HMRC’s database? Either way, it's not only irritating but a bit worrying as well.

I couldn’t pick up the phone when they called, but they left a message. It was some automated voice claiming I was dodging taxes and threatening that if I didn’t ring a specific number, I’d have a warrant out for my arrest. Honestly, I just found it laughable - I run a business myself and know HMRC wouldn’t ever get in touch like that. I’ve blocked the number now, no doubt it’s a scam.

i got a ring from these lot as well. they claimed theres a warrant for my arrest over unpaid taxes, which is total nonsense. the phone number made it look like they were calling from London, but the accent was all wrong, sounded like someone from a dodgy place in India. the guy barely spoke English, it was hilarious. seriously, don’t buy into it, and if they call you, just give them a piece of your mind!

I got a call just now from someone claiming to be from the tax office, saying I'd be arrested in three days. Is this some kind of scam?
