Got a call from some guy called Jack Smith, claimed he was from India and said there was a problem with my internet that they could fix. Honestly, with all these types of calls happening, why aren’t phone companies doing anything about it? Don’t fall for it, just hang up and say what you really think!

Got a call from someone called ‘Jack Smith’ claiming to be from the ‘Internet Security Team’ with a strong Indian accent. He said my PC had issues. I pretended to believe him for a bit just to waste his time, then told him my screen flashed ‘Beware of scammers!’ and he just ended the call. Honestly, not great, 2/10 - should do better next time.

Got a call from someone with a heavy accent claiming my computer was sending out error messages. I played along and asked exactly how these messages were sent and where they got the info from. The caller mentioned some kind of server, so I pressed for the server's name. That’s when he abruptly hung up. I guess I wasted a bit of his important time with my questions!

How utterly presumptuous! A fellow named Arnold claimed to be ringing from BT regarding the internet hassles I've been having with my computer recently. I made it abundantly clear that I should not receive calls due to our call preference settings, and promptly ended the conversation. To my surprise, he called back! I informed him he was mistaken, as my family and I had been away on holiday for the past couple of weeks. Curious, he inquired about our destination, so I mentioned we were overseas. Then, I clarified that I don't own a computer or laptop. He then had the audacity to question how I could finance a holiday abroad without a laptop! What nerve! At that point, I terminated the call again.

02032876261 These lot from India are total scammers. What I do is give a big loud whistle first, then if I’m certain it’s a scam, I blow hard into the phone’s mouthpiece and tell them firmly not to ring me again, or else!

02032876261: I only pick up calls from numbers saved in my contacts, so if it shows up with no name, I just don’t answer. Blocking doesn’t help much since they keep changing numbers all the time - nearly all seem to be unlisted and spoofed to look legit. I’ve kept tabs for half a year and haven’t had any repeat numbers. Loads of them come from overseas too, so if possible, try blocking international calls. BT now automatically blocks around 13 of these a day for me, which is a bit of a relief!

A right dodgy phone call I received! Some chap with an Indian accent rang me up, claiming he was from BT, saying my internet gateway had been left vulnerable. He seemed blissfully unaware that I'm with a different provider entirely! It screamed scam from the get-go, so I swiftly ended the conversation. Best to avoid these tricks!

Received a call on the 15th and 16th of August in 2019 from an Asian chap whose English wasn’t quite up to scratch. He claimed my 'Gateway' was wide open, but I found that a tad amusing since I don’t even have a gate-just two Rottweilers to keep any intruders at bay! He insisted he was from BT and that he could give me a security number to verify his claims. He mentioned he had attempted to reach me previously, so I suggested he drop me an email regarding the issue. Honestly, my IP address is flexible, and I'm definitely not with BT, which seemed to pique his interest. But the moment I hinted that my IP could be from Virginia or even Washington in the States, he ended the call! I was just about to channel my inner Liam Neeson with my ‘I don’t know who you are, but I have skills’ spiel from 'Taken.' It’s baffling why the authorities aren’t more proactive in tracing these calls and taking action against the callers.

Just like a lot of folks here, I got a call sayin it was BT about internet issues. I really wasn’t in the mood to entertain it so told the person I’d pass their number on to the police if they called again and to stop calling. I’m pretty sure they’ll ring back though. It’s annoying how you can’t block em and they’ve got some kinda press 3 option to get you again. Caller had an Indian accent and called himself Jack. Don’t pick up if you get the same!

This number rang me three times within about an hour while I was out, and then just now I got another call. The caller said his name was James and sounded Indian. He claimed it was urgent and said there was a problem with my broadband payment, asking for a card payment because apparently the bank wouldn’t take it. I told him I wasn’t paying anything. I picked up the phone an it was quiet for a bit, then a bloke said hello. After that, an automated American lady’s voice came on saying my internet service was about to be disconnected and to press 1 for details. I just ended the call and blocked the number straight away.

No one spoke so I just ended the call, glad I checked these comments first!

Someone rang me pretending to be from my Internet company, saying they’d cut off my service if I didn’t pay up.

Like a few others said, it was an Asian guy and we said hello a few times. Then suddenly he remembers he had to play this American woman’s voice recording saying I need a new IP address or something dodgy like that, and to press 1 to speak to someone. Of course, I just ended the call.

Got a robo-call claiming to be from my internet provider saying my service was about to be disconnected. I listened for half a minute then ended the call. Right after, another call came through from someone claiming to be an engineer saying my IP was hacked. I’m in IT, so I tried explaining IP allocation, DNS and DHCP, but it was clear he didn’t know much. The chat got messy real quick and he just hung up on me.

Got a robotic call claiming to be from my internet provider saying my connection was about to be disconnected. Waited about half a minute before ending the call. Right after, another call came through from someone calling themselves an engineer, saying my IP got hacked. I’m in IT myself, so we had a pretty messy chat about IPs, DNS and DHCP - honestly, the bloke sounded clueless. Then he just dropped the call.

Never got the call, and honestly glad I didn't after reading what others said here.

Got a call from someone claiming to be British Gas, asking for my account info and MPAN. When I told them I'd ring the number on my bill instead, they got really rude. Definitely a scammer.

02032876261 - dodgy call - I answered with "hello" and some guy said "hello" back - then suddenly it switched to this robotic American woman voice trying to say my internet would get cut off - what a bunch of cheeky monkeys! - I hung up and blocked the number straight away.

Got a dodgy call - some robot warning me my internet is hacked and they’ll swap my router today, plus cut my broadband. So annoying! Blocked it, but seriously, how many more blockers do I have to add?!

Call ended the second I picked up, so I reckon it was one of those auto dial scam calls. Shame I couldn’t stick around, I actually quite enjoy having a go at these muppets!

Got a call from some bloke saying he was from the internet security team. Told him to jog on straight away, but he rang me back just seconds later. Proper fed up with these nuisance calls.

My phone didnt ring at all but this number appeared on my missed calls list. Looks like I was pretty fortunate to not answer it given how many times people have mentioned it here,

Got a silent call, I reckon these scammers have some sort of autodialler that rings loads of phones at once. If no one picks up (probably chatting to someone else they're trying to scam), you just get dead silence. I've blocked the number now, and honestly, buying a call blocker was the best thing I've done in ages.

This number 02032872614 kept ringing me non-stop, I think it was about 4 calls in just a couple of minutes. I ended up hanging up, but they rang again two more times after that. The voices sounded Indian and they claimed to be from BT, saying my internet was at risk and that I had to switch on my computer to sort it out. I’m honestly fed up with this nonsense now.

Got a call from some "internet security firm" with a lady who sounded like she was from India. When I mentioned my provider was BT, she instantly claimed to be ringing for BT. I asked her to verify my BT customer number before we continued, and guess what? She just ended the call right there. Pretty obvious it was a scam.

Received a call from someone claiming to be from an "online security firm." The woman on the line had a distinct Indian accent. As soon as I mentioned my internet provider was BT, she promptly stated she was ringing on their behalf. I thought, very well then, how about you verify my BT customer number and we can proceed? Not shockingly, she abruptly cut the line on me.

Got a call today, and I’m always a bit iffy about those 0203 numbers. Looks like they’re on some sort of blacklist or something. I’ve already reported it to Action Fraud.

Got a call from a bloke claiming he was from BT, but I knew straight away he was lying. So, I just hit the big red button on my CPR call blocker. Honestly, best purchase I’ve ever made.

Got a bloke with an Indian accent on the phone claiming to be from BT, saying they were fixing some internet problems for me. I decided to humour him by pretending to type stuff on the keyboard, so he passed me to his 'supervisor'. I just let them chat away for about ten minutes before cheekily asking when they would want my bank details 🤣. Then I told her I wasn’t even near my PC and I’m not a BT customer. She sounded proper annoyed and just hung up! Anyway, that was my bit of entertainment for the day.

Got a call from a woman with a strong Indian accent saying there was something wrong with my internet. I work for a big PLC and we handle our internet through our own servers, so I told her she must be mistaken. When I asked who she thought she was dealing with, she just hung up. It's mad that companies like BT or other phone providers don’t just hand this info over to the cops - these are clear scams. Surely since they can track who foots the bill for the line, it wouldn’t be that hard to look into and catch these dodgy callers.

I received a curious call from a woman with an Indian accent, chirping on about some internet troubles. Now, considering we’re a sizable public limited company, our internet runs off our own servers, not third-party nonsense. When I politely enquired who she thought she was chatting to, she abruptly ended the call. It does raise the question - why don’t BT or the phone companies take action against these obviously dodgy callers? They must have records of who’s footing the bill for these numbers. Surely, it wouldn’t be too hard to track them down and prevent such scams from happening again, perhaps even lead to some arrests along the way? It’s frustrating, to say the least!
