Clearly a scam!
I spent ages rummaging for some paper and a pen, and then I kept asking them to spell out their name and the account manager's name. I also found it quite amusing to reply back with the names misspelled. I kept them on the line for a good 20 minutes!
It’s always nice to have a chat!

I swear, these calls keep getting more and more absurd. Now they’re telling me the government will give me £8000 for paying my bills on time! Honestly, what sort of alien world do these scammers come from? If only they put half as much effort into getting a real job. Honestly, it’s really scary knowing that some elderly folks might actually believe this nonsense and get caught out.

Got a call saying I’ve been given an £8000 grant from the UK government! They asked me to ring a number and provide this TD code they sent. Happened at 10:09 on 27 August 2015. Seems a bit fishy to me.

Got a call on my old mobile from some bloke named Mervin claiming he was from a government grants office. He told me I needed to phone 0203 287 5032 to get a supposedly free grant of £8,000. Sounded dodgy right from the start - definitely one of those scams trying to catch you out.

Beware! There are individuals out there wanting you to go to the post office and fork out £210 in order to qualify for an £8000 grant. It's best to steer clear of such schemes!

Received a call from this lot earlier; I could tell straight away it was dodgy. They tried to lure me in with a promise of £8000 for nothing! I decided to keep the caller chatting for a good half an hour just to waste their time. Absolute scoundrels! There's no way I’d ever ring them back, though. Complete waste of breath!

My lad answered the phone and it was some blokes telling him that I’m owed a sum of £8000 because I’ve had no run-ins with the law for the last six months. They actually knew my name and even provided a reference number, ID707, for when I get in touch. But to be honest, I’ve got no intention of ringing them back!

Today about 4pm I got a call from someone named 'Gavin' with the usual story about owing £8,000 just for being a decent person or something daft like that. What a total load of nonsense! I even tried to get BT to block these calls but they were no help at all - really frustrating.

I received a rather odd phone call today, claiming that due to my exemplary behaviour as a citizen, I was entitled to receive a payment of £8000 from the government. They were rather insistent on getting my bank details, but I had the sense to decline. Instead, they provided me with a number to call back - 02032875032 - along with a reference number. Naturally, I haven't called them; the caller supposedly represented the UK Government's Transport department. Seems dodgy, doesn’t it?

lol £8,000 from the government? yeah, right, that'll never happen. I asked for a cheque but he just brushed me off and told me to call another number to get my money. He also said I’d been a good citizen with no run-ins with the law, but he had no clue what my name was. So I told him I’d actually been in trouble - said I stabbed some bloke who tried to scam me over the phone. Weirdly, he just hung up on me after that. The guy sounded Asian but went by the name ‘Marion’. Honestly, these calls crack me up every time.

So funny, this morning I got a call from a lady claiming she was "Cinderella" and talking about £8k. I was trying so hard not to laugh and didn’t get caught up in her scam. Can you believe, it’s already my second dodgy call today and it’s barely half past 11! What a day lol.

I’ve been receiving constant calls from these folks claiming they can help me recover some cash. Let me just say, be wary-this seems like a complete scam. No money comes back; it's just a ploy to get you to hand over your hard-earned cash!

this guy with a weird accent called claiming to be from some UK government grants office, telling me i was eligible for an £8,000 payout for being a model citizen. he went on about how i could get the money as cash, on card, or straight into my bank account. when i said i'd rather get a cheque, he gave me a code and told me to ring a different number to activate it. i havent bothered calling back tho!

This guy with a really weird accent called me claiming he was from some government dept and said I’d been randomly picked to get £1000. He told me I could have it sent straight to my bank, my debit card or just get cash. I knew straight away it was dodgy, so I said I wanted the cash delivered right to my home and also asked where he was calling from - then he just hung up on me.

I received a call from the number 00258900076, but when I tried to get some information from them, they just took my details without offering anything in return. They then told me to simply ring back using the same number. Quite frustrating, really!
