Got a call from someone claiming to be from BT offering a 35% discount 'cos I apparently make a lot of local calls. When they asked what my initials meant and which bank I use, I didn’t give any more details. Asked them to just put the discount through or send me confirmation by post.

Today I received a call from someone claiming to be from BT but it was pretty obvious it was some call centre overseas, probably India, because their English was so broken. They kept saying I was due a refund for using my mobile a lot and then asked for my bank info to sort it out. Makes me really concerned about older or more vulnerable people falling for these tricks. BT really ought to block this number before more get caught out.

Today on the 12th of November 2016, I got a call from a London call centre. The bloke on the phone said his name was David John. When I started asking more questions, he quickly cut the call. Sounds like a total scam to me.

Got a call earlier from a bloke claiming he was from Windows saying my computer was compromised. I told him I work nights and was already in bed, then asked for his number so I could ring him back another time. He said his name was David Johnson, which I found a bit odd for an Asian/Indian guy. I've had these sort of calls before, so I reckon they'll keep coming. One time, someone even said they'd spoken to my husband - when I asked what he said, I mentioned I hadn’t seen him all day and he’d left before I got back. (FYI, my husband passed away 15 years ago, so that's not possible.) It's definitely a scam. I just keep them on the line as long as I can so they can't try fooling anyone else. Happy Christmas!

I got a phone call from someone claiming to be from "Microsoft support." I asked them for a number to ring back on and, to my surprise, they actually gave me one! When I called it, they told me to turn on my computer so they could "fix a major issue." I've had a few calls like this before and I can't help but have a bit of fun asking them daft questions. Still, it worries me that neither Microsoft nor the police seem to be doing much about it. I wonder if there's a reason they don't seem bothered?

This number, along with 01143601694, has called me quite a few times now. These people are really persistent and don’t stop calling easily.

Early this morning around 9.15, I got a call from a woman with an Asian accent who claimed she was calling from Microsoft. She told me my computer had been compromised. When I asked her for a contact number to ring back, she gave me the same number I had just answered. I mentioned that I use an Apple device, not Windows, and she quickly passed me over to a man, also Asian, who said his name was Peter Frank and worked in the Apple department. He then tried to convince me that the hack came through Adobe Flash Player and wanted me to sit at my computer. I told him I don't trust unexpected calls like this and would have my computer expert look into it instead. He got quite pushy, insisting they could fix it immediately, but I hung up. Later, I looked up the number on this website and found plenty of similar stories. To me, this seems like a classic scam, so don’t get caught out by their tricks.

So today, I got a phone call from a bloke with an Indian accent claiming he was ringing from Microsoft. He wanted me to enter some numbers into my Microsoft windows, which raised my eyebrows right away. I told him I was a bit wary about the whole thing. After falling for a Norton scam once, I asked him for some proper proof. He then gave me a phone number to call back. Sounded fishy to me!

Received a call from this number today, they tried to get my credit card info! Don't fall for it. They ask you to enter stuff on your PC so they can control it remotely, then they show you fake errors and Trojan warnings. I went ahead and gave them access by mistake. After that I rang the police, and they advised me to inform my bank if I do any online banking and to file a report. Same goes for any other important accounts. They also said I should take my computer to a trusted technician and explain what happened. Please learn from my error! The person said his name was Michael Jones from Microsoft Support, sounded like he had an Indian accent.

A young lady called claiming to be from Microsoft. I wanted to know her name, phone number, and what her aim was with the call. I also questioned why she was fibbing about this number supposedly being linked to her Microsoft files - there’s no computer here! She ended the call abruptly, but at least I got her number.

I got a call claiming to be from Microsoft and, having almost fallen for a similar trick in the past, I was really wary. They tried to convince me by giving a PC registration number, but it sounded totally made up. When I asked for their phone number, they gave me one that I later checked and, unsurprisingly, it turned out to be a scam. Honestly, when those folks ring back, it’s best to just say you don’t own a computer at all.

This bloke first said his name was David Melior, then suddenly changed it to Justin Miller, saying he’d been transferred or something. The accent didn’t at all match either name. He gave me some ‘computer ID number’ and told me to check it by pressing control dot or something. He claimed my PC was riddled with terrible viruses and warned if I didn’t help, it’d stop working. I managed to get his number 02032869239, but I never bothered calling him back.

Total scam. The guy was super pushy and started threatening me, saying they’d block my PC. When I asked how they even got my number, considering I bought my laptop in Canada, he went off saying he’d come all the way to Toronto to find where I live. He pretended to be from Microsoft’s main office. I’m definitely gonna report this to the cops.

Had a call from someone named "Charlie Belford" claiming to be from "Microsoft." He warned me that my computer had been hacked and would be blocked unless I switched it on and followed his instructions. Mind you, my PC was off at the time! The number showed as 0203286, and when I told him I'd ring back later, he hung up but immediately called me again. He got quite narked when I mentioned I'd contact Microsoft directly to ask for him...

Got a call earlier from someone claiming to be from Microsoft. They said that my computer had been hacked through my IP address. I didn't bite and told them I didn't even have an IP. Their answer was some nonsense about how lying wouldn’t help me and I’d be in SERIOUS trouble. Figured I’d have a bit of fun with them as they seemed to get thrown off a bit! They told me to sit at my computer, but I said it was locked away in a cupboard. Then I asked for their phone number so I could ring back once I freed the computer. They gave me 02032869239. No way I’m ringing that! Total con artist. Before hanging up, they warned me they’d call back tomorrow. Can’t wait to see if they do - I’ll be ready to mess with the cheeky scammer!

I got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent saying he was from Microsoft. He told me my computer was infected with a nasty virus. After listing all these problems, he then said he could sort it out for £149. When it came to payment, he asked me to send the money through Western Union and told me to say it was a personal transfer, not linked to Microsoft. That sounded dodgy straight away. Things got worse when my bank blocked the payment, and he started getting angry, telling me to ring my card company. Then I spotted the amount he was trying to charge was over £600, and the money was going to be sent to Colombia. Honestly, steer well clear of these scammers. It's an absolute scam. Hopefully, my experience stops someone else from getting caught out.

My dad got a call today from someone pretending to be Microsoft, saying his computer was hacked and he had to let them fix it by accessing his PC. Thinking it was real, he gave them the access they asked for. After that, they locked his machine and demanded £419 to sort everything out. When we got in touch with Microsoft, they said they never call like that and that fixing it properly would cost £149. We told the scammers off and I just reinstalled Windows for my dad. Now his computer’s working perfectly again.

Today I recieved a call from a man with an Asian accent saying my PC would be shut down unless I sorted something out. I told him I’d ring back if needed but when I looked up the number, it was clear it was a scam. Had a call this evening, some woman saying my PC was infected with serious viruses and that hackers were in. She convinced me to let her access my computer, and after showing me some stuff, said I needed to pay £250. I refused, then she started deleting photos and personal files, including some important ones. She then demanded £160 to restore them. I gave her some info, which I found out was for Western Union. In the end, she took £257. The guy on the phone got horrible, sounded wasted and was yelling. Watch out for these con artists!

This morning, I received two calls from the same number, 01642 878714, claiming to be from Microsoft. I couldn’t answer the first one, but picked up the second. The person on the line, who sounded like he might be from India or nearby, gave me another number, 02032869239, when I asked for his contact details. I rang that number later and the person on the other end said it was Microsoft. He was quite pushy and insisted my PC was infected and it was up to me to let him fix it. Something really similar just happened here... got a call from 0019898289913, and the guy gave 02032869239 as the callback number. We don’t even use Microsoft stuff at our place. What a total waste of time. My tip? Talk super soft so he’s forced to crank his headset right up, then shout at him really loud about where he can shove it. Maybe it’ll stop him from being such a scammer next time.

My mum got a call from someone pretending to be from Microsoft, saying her PC needed fixing. The guy said his name was Ted Wilson but the call came from India, which was pretty obvious. She told him she was on the TPS and shouldn't be called, but he kept going. In the end, he backed off when she mentioned involving the police. I rang the number he gave her and it was definitely a sketchy call centre, but they just hung up on me. Totally a scam - watch out and don’t get caught!

got a call from an asian lady who somehow knew about a crash i’d been in. she kept talking about filing a compensation claim that would supposedly pay out in 6-8 weeks. something didn’t feel right so i just ended the call. later i looked it up on google and found loads of others who’d been tricked by the same thing. best thing is to just hang up as soon as you get a call like that.

Beware of a scam from a call centre in Asia claiming to offer Windows support. They’ll try to get money out of you by locking your computer with a password once you let them access it. Sometimes you can find that password online by searching for it. Everything they say about hackers or viruses causing errors is nonsense. Those so-called alerts are just regular Windows logs that often show warnings and errors, which is completely normal. Here’s a warning from the UK police about this kind of fraud: http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/victims-still-being-targeted-by-computer-software-service-fraud-may14

Beware of these boiler-room scammers from Asia claiming they’re offering help for Windows problems. If you let them access your PC, they’ll lock it with a password and demand cash to unlock it. Sometimes you can find that password online by searching, so don’t panic straight away. Everything they say about hackers or viruses causing errors is nonsense - it’s just normal Windows logs full of warnings and errors that happen all the time. They just want to trick you into paying.

Last week, I received an intriguing phone call from this number, suggesting that our computer was harbouring a virus, and that a catastrophic failure was imminent within two months. Curiosity piqued, I probed for more information, and they claimed to represent Microsoft, even supplying a callback number for validation. I found it rather odd since my daughter and son-in-law are both employed by Microsoft, and they hadn’t alerted us to any issues. Strangely enough, just as I raised this point, the line went completely silent!

Got one of those dodgy calls from an Indian call centre pretending to be Microsoft tech support, with a fake number showing up on my phone. They try to convince you to give them remote access so they can install dodgy software and demand money. Best thing is to just hang up, or if you’re bored, waste their time a bit. Whatever you do, don’t do what they say!

Honestly, these calls are definitely a scam, but if you’re up for a bit of fun messing about with them and wasting their time, why not? I actually find them quite good for chilling out after a hectic day at work. Just be super careful - never give out any info about your computer, no matter what they say. Legit companies don’t randomly ring you about problems with your PC, unless you asked for help, and it’s definitely not Microsoft or anyone like that. My advice? Just have a giggle and mess with them a bit.

This number has been ringing me non stop for a few days. They’re quite pushy, claiming they’re from some IT support company. They keep insisting I switch on my computer so they can fix a supposed virus. When I ask for a name, the guy’s voice sounds like he might be either African or Asian. He says his name’s Peter Johnson, supposedly from 247 Leicester, but when I ask for more details about the location, he can’t say. Peter Johnson, yeah right!

Got a call like that earlier today. They wanted to know if I was the person linked to the number, but I said no, it’s Virgin. Then they claimed my Windows PC was hacked, which is funny because I’m on a Mac. The trick I use is to ask them to wait a moment, then put the phone down somewhere. When I pick it up five minutes later, the line’s dead. They’ve never bothered ringing back after that.

This number has rung me about four times already. Being a security investigator, I decided to see what they’re up to this time. Basically, their method is to trick you into downloading their programme on your computer, then either demand payment or gain control of your machine. From what I can gather, they might be operating out of India, but if you question them, they claim to be located at 207 Mentorn Road in Leicester. The dodgy site they want you to visit actually has connections back to India.

Today, on 14/7/18, I got a call from this number for the very first time. The person on the other end spoke with an Asian accent. This number has rung me twice in the span of a couple nights. The caller spoke with an Asian accent and claimed there was an issue with my PC, saying hackers were accessing it in a way that antivirus or malware software wouldn’t catch. He asked me to check my computer so he could read out my Windows licence key, and if it matched, he’d help sort the problem. I told him no thanks, but he kept pushing, so I ended up just cutting the call.

Had this call from a bloke with an Asian accent claiming to be some tech support. He kept me chatting for about 10-12 minutes, gave him loads of grief and even recorded the whole thing. After a while, I asked what OS I was running and my IP address. Next thing, I get passed onto a “senior” tech - sounded like the same guy just trying a different fake voice. Kept the chat going a bit longer, told him straight up he probably thought Brits were dumb and hard of hearing. He went “huh?” so I said I’d trace his number and back it all up with the recording. Suddenly he’s banging on about me still having a virus despite my antivirus blocking something, so I just said, “Right, catch you later.” Then I mentioned my family has a few cops and told him he might want to have a word with one of them. Heard a muffled “shhh” and the line cut off. Classic scammer move.

On July 10th, I received a couple of calls from a man with an Asian accent. He called once at 5pm and again close to 6pm, both times claiming to be from Microsoft Windows. The first call I told him he was talking nonsense and ended the call. When he rang the second time, I just put the phone down without saying a word. Usually, I tell them I don’t own a computer and they hang up pretty quick. These calls happen a lot now, so I’ve kinda got used to ignoring them and not getting bothered.

Got calls from this number yesterday and again just now. When I told the caller they were scammers yesterday, they threatened to come to my house. Today, I decided to call them back, but they cut me off right away. Like others have mentioned, it's probably best to just ignore these calls. I'm worried they might be going after older folks. Do you think I ought to inform the police about this? Maybe everyone should. I've also asked my phone company to block any calls from this number now.

Yep, just like loads of others, this person called me claiming to be from Windows Live and said my computer was at risk of being hacked. When I said I wasn’t going to touch anything until my husband got back, he told me it would be too late by then! I asked how they even got my number since we're ex-directory and on the TPS, but he just didn’t answer. Then I asked for his number so my husband could call him back, and he ignored that too!!!
