11 yearsHad a phone call from some guy called Ben Parker who said he had a cheque worth £3,279 linked to my injury claim. He told me a bloke named John Smith would show up in about an hour to drop it off (mobile number 07419256661). The catch was I had to show him my passport and driving licence, then head to a PayPoint machine to pay £220 for the case fees and medical reports that this solicitor, Michael Bowin (or maybe Gowin, not sure), supposedly paid for out of his own pocket. Ben claimed the cheque was from the UK Government Court Office, but said I couldn’t get it until I paid that £220. I told him solicitor fees usually come out of the payout before you get any money, but he insisted the government had changed the rules. While I was searching on my laptop for info on the official courts and justice department, the call abruptly ended. I tried calling back the number, but nobody answered. I’ve reported everything to the police now.
