Recently, we received a call from a Mark Wilson associated with CMS, who claimed we could reclaim bank charges through the Post Office by using a money gram, provided we paid a £100 admin fee. When we mentioned that we couldn't afford the fee, he suggested we might consider borrowing the money. Remarkably, he said he would ring us back, which he did-literally just ten seconds later. When we pointed out that the website he provided didn’t seem to exist and expressed our suspicion that it was a scam, he abruptly ended the call. We tried to trace the number using the 1471 service, and to our astonishment, it was marked as withheld.

I’ve received a refund for the bank fees from MoneyGram, and thankfully, the one-time administration charge from the post office is also eligible for a refund. Quite pleased with how that turned out!

I was asked to fork out £379, which they insisted was for VAT. That raised a few red flags for us, to say the least. I've decided to report this to trading standards to get it sorted. Regards, J. Kay.

I was charged £379, and when I inquired, they claimed it was for VAT. That raised a few red flags for me. I'm now considering whether this falls under commercial regulations. Cheers, J. KAY
