I called an 0800 helpline for HP printers, and then this number rang me back. The bloke on the other end asked if he could take over my laptop remotely. The moment I realised what was going on, I just ended the call. After that, I got several calls from the same number but I didn’t pick up any of them.

Beware of the number 0203 286 2489, it’s definitely a scam, and seems connected to someone called H Packard ENTERPRIZE. I came across it after visiting what looked like a legit HP site, but when I got in touch with HP directly, they weren’t much help at all. The person on the phone, who sounded Indian, claimed their office was at 81 Newgate, London - but that’s actually the BT main office, so it didn’t add up.
