Got a call from this number earlier, with some woman claiming to be Claire Williams from HMRC. The message was really pushy and aggressive. Definitely a scam, but can be quite scary if you're not expecting it.

Just got that same robotic call from someone saying she's Claire Williams. I’m gonna report it for sure, but honestly, this kind of thing can really upset older folks or those who might be more vulnerable.

Just like explained here, I got a really pushy voicemail from some American woman called Claire Williams. I rang the number and the first bloke hung up as soon as I said if he was HMRC, he'd know my name. Then I tried again and a different guy, sounding more confident but with a thick Asian accent, answered. Both calls felt quite dodgy. I've already handed this over to the cops.

This number just rang me and had all sorts of threats, saying I had to call back or else. Definitely dodgy stuff.

This number showed up on my phone, left a voicemail from someone called Claire Williams. I attempted to ring back, no luck though as it wouldn't go through. If it was really HMRC, they wouldn’t be operating so late in the evening. I’ve since deleted the voicemail and blocked the number. Also, I believe HMRC usually uses a number starting with 0844 or something similar.

I got a voicemail yesterday from some woman called Claire Williams, said she was from HMRC. Last week I got a call from 020 3287 5747 too, with exactly the same spiel. Definitely a scam, watch out!

I got a call from 02032860498, and the person on the line was a woman who said her name was Claire Williams. She claimed she was from HMRC and insisted I ring back straight away or get my lawyer involved because it was some “urgent” issue. Honestly, it felt really off and quite scary, especially since I’m retired and was only half awake when she called!

This number is definitely dodgy. I got an automated call with an American accent, someone saying they were Clare Williams from HMRC. They said I had to ring them back or I'd get into trouble legally. Total nonsense, don’t fall for it.

At around 7:45 on the morning of December 7th, 2018, I got a robo voicemail from an American woman’s voice. The call came from 0203 286 0498. She said it was from HM Revenue and Customs and gave their hotline number as 0203 286 0498, repeating it twice. The message warned me not to ignore it and to call them back. It also said that if either I or my lawyer didn’t return the call, I should prepare for legal trouble. She finished with a "Goodbye and take care." Really creepy and felt like a scam to me.

Got a call from someone saying he was from HMRC, named John Anderson. Honestly, he sounded way more like he was Indian than British to me. I didn’t buy it for a second, so I called him Ranjit and jokingly asked what kind of curry he was having tonight. Not surprisingly, he didn’t seem too pleased!

Got a call from a man with a strong Indian accent who said his name was John Anderson. When I told him, "Alright, whatever your real name is - Prakash, Daljit, or something like that - I’m hanging up now because this sounds like a complete scam," he didn’t seem too pleased.

Got a call from an Indian lady who said I owed £4800. She sounded really believable and even mentioned stuff about my job and how I paid less tax back in 2016 when I was working part-time. She also threatened that Surrey Police had a warrant out for me. Pretty scary, but I reckon it was a scam.

That number isn’t from HMRC, so don’t bother calling them back like they tell you to. If you get calls from it, best to report it straight away. You can ring Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or just head over to their website at actionfraud.police.uk to let them know.

I got a call from someone saying they were HMRC, telling me not to ignore their call. So I phoned them back, and straight away this woman asked if I had a lawyer. Then she said I owed £2000 in unpaid taxes. I explained there’s no way I owe anything like that, and then she just ended the call.

Got a call telling me I had to call back because I supposedly owed nearly £4,000. They warned I had only 45 minutes to deal with it or it’d go to court. They also said they’d freeze my passport, bank account, and driving licence. When I asked why I hadn’t had any emails confirming it, the woman claimed that wasn’t necessary. I ended up reporting it to HMRC’s fraud department.
